Don't Stop Believin' Lyrics

Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
The smell of wine and cheap...

This song is about two people who have never been outside of their own town. Thus they go out looking to see the world and what it holds. when they find each other they have finally "found emotion" like the song says. It's also saying if you don't find what your looking for right off the bat "don't stop believing"

I know you guys aren't going to like this, but I'd have to say I think this song is about One-night stands. The "Midnight" train? Going "Anywhere?" It's about how two people regular get drunk..and well..you know..do classic things, and because of this trouble happens. But don't stop believing!

This song could relate to anybody at any time in their life that is why so many people can get in a meaning from it in their own way. It can tell you to hold on and don't stop believing that things will get better. If someone in your family dies, if you lose your job,if your in up in the hospital,or you lose your best friend. Things like that just like the song by Bon Jovi (living on a prayer) don't stop believing is a song full of hope.

The midnight train going anywhere does refer to something. It refers to drugs, and at that time it referred to cocaine.

It's about people down on their luck, but the singer is crying out to them to "Don't stop believing", things will get better if you want them to. There is definitely references to addicts, hookers, and gamblers.

Steve Perry in particular has stated that the "streetlight people, living just to find emotion" were prostitutes.

I don't think the song has much of an actual story in it. It just mentions a bunch of people who are having problems in their life and how the have to keep on believing that one day it will get better. It tells the listener to "hold on to that feeling" (enjoy what you can and don't stop believing). The "streetlight people" in the song are homeless people.

I think this song is about JD's new found appreciation for Journey and the fact that he will never stop believing.

I Think this song is about someone who is looking for a better life so he hopps on a train and heads wherever it takes him. Seeking hospitality he finds a cheap bar hotel where he runs into the woman of his dreams. The song is saying don't stop believing because in the end you will fing what you were looking for.
