Kings of Leon: Sex on Fire Meaning
Song Released: 2008
Sex on Fire Lyrics
I know they're watching, they're watching
All the comotion, kiddie like play
Has people talking, talking
You, your sex is on fire
The dark of the alley, the breaking of the day
The head while...
-
its obviously about great sex...the sexual things they do and where they do them...the "consumed by what will transpire" is not about an std...its about where the relationship will go. will it all be about sex or more.... i love this song
-
in an interview, kinds of leon actually said that there are two ways to write a song: write the music and fit words to it, or the other way around, that is to say write the words then fit music to it
this song was from the first, they wrote what they thought was great music (which it is), and then fitted words that matched the music, and this is what they came up with. -
This song is apparently just about sex and the excitement of gettin on with someone you're attracted to!! Mostly its about the excitement before: 'Consumed with whats to transpire.' IT could be a homosexual or heterosexual encounter, I believe that interpretation is left to the listener. The video definitely has tons of homosexual references: the dude picking up the 'cock' then suckin on chicken wings oh and the fact that there are NO chicks in the video only a 'cock'
-
I think this song is about a kinky one-night stand where both parties really wonder if/believe there could be more beyond this particular night. I also think it could be a metaphor for a relationship that is everything he wants it to be, thus the "the kiddie like play has people talking, talking" as if other couples might be jealous of everything their relationship has.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

It's about oral sex while driving but also sexually transmitted diseases. 'What might transpire' might be a play on words. Change the spelling from 'pire' to 'pyre'...and you have a crash or disease, cruising to a funeral pyre. Life's rich ambiguity, not lost to the southern sons.
-
I think this song is maily about hot hot sex, doesn't matter where it is, they just want it because its so good.
-
It's about people having sex and then they get lit on fire just for kicks. cause there sickos.
-
I think the whole thing is about a forbiden or secret love affair. The alley part could be about where they met up and then they go off, and then the road head. Obviously..
I don't know where you all get rape from, the whole song is about a relationship about amazingly great sex. -
It makes sense though, if it's just about great sex then where does the alley come in to play?
-
It's about great sex.
like, have you ever had sex that was so good its just 'on fire'? freakin prostitution! -
that should make for some interesting pillow talk.
"hey honey, do you remember how we met?"
"Of course, I was walking home through an alley, and you were the one with the chlorophorm." -
