Wanted You More Lyrics

I kept waiting on a reason
And a call that never came
No I never, saw it comin'
Somethin' in you
Must have changed

All the words unspoken
Promises broken
I cried for so long.
Wasted too much time
Should have seen the signs.
Now I...

It's all been said. The song is about a one-sided relationship.

This song is about a one-sided relationship in which one person is more committed than the other.

"I kept waiting on a reason and a call that never came," refers to the other person's willingness to commit themselves fully to the relationship.

"No I never saw it comin', somethin' in you must have changed," means they were off to a great start and then all of a sudden one of them decided it was no longer what they wanted.

"Should have seen the signs, now I know just what went wrong," leads into the reason for the break up which is...

"I guess I wanted you more, and looking back now I'm sure, I wanted you more, I guess I wanted you more." If it's a guy, he's summing up the reason for their split by saying he wanted her more than she wanted him, plain and simple, hence the "I guess." He's got no explanation for why they didn't work out other than the simple fact that he wanted her more than she wanted him. And vice versa if it's from the girl's perspective.

The second verse gives more background into their relationship. It talks about all the time they spent together, plans they made for their future, and how one of them was waiting on the other to settle down with them and for whatever reason, they just couldn't or wouldn't. Nevertheless, he "tried to change [her] mind."

    Beautiful song.

This song represents an instance when you realize that a relationship that could have been, slips away. When you look back and realize that maybe you really did want that person more than you thought you did, but unfortunately you realize it too late.
