Linkin Park: Bleed It Out Meaning
Song Released: 2007
Bleed It Out Lyrics
Hand grenade pins in every line
Throw 'em up and let something shine
Going out of my fucking mind
Filthy mouth, no excuse
Find a new place to hang this noose
String me up from atop these roofs
Knot...
-
I believe it's abotu someone who just wants to give up, someone who tried so hard only to fail,an emo to be exact. I think it coudl be about someone not giving a crap abotu anythign anymore.
-
The song is about his many ways of committing suicide...hand grenade pins in every line throw em up and let something shine( blow yourself up)....shotgun opera lock and load (shoot yourself) hang me up from atop these roofs find a new place to hang this noose(hang yourself)......just my opinion.

not so much on this site but other sites said that bleed it out was just made for fun but i think that it is about not being able to escape the dangers of the world and also the term bleed it out doesnt mean just mean to cut ur wrists.it can also mean to just let it all go.by the way isnt the line shotgun ill pull lock and load oris it shotgun opera lock and load

I think a lot of the song, doesn't mena much of anything, I think linkin park took this one song and just put words and rhymes to make it sound goo
i think they tried really hard to find words to go with the music but ended up not being able to make much out of it they say so themselves in the song
"doesn't matter how hard I tried"
they tried to find words that meant something
"half the words don't mean a thing"
the words ended up not meaning anything
"I know that I won't be satisfied"
they weren't satisfied with the words they came up with that meant something but didn't go with the beat/tempo/song
and the chorus
"I bleed it out diggin deeper just to throw it away"
they exhausted themselves trying to make meaningful words fit, but they couldn't and just ended up throwing them away
" I pulled myself so far ill make you face this now"
they worked hard on the lyrics even though they didn't mean much, and their saying people will just have to deal with this one song that doesn't mean anything
"yea, here we go for the hundreth time"
proof that they tried tons of times to write lyrics that fit -
I don't know about you guys, but it sounds like he's saying life is so bad he'd do anything to get away from it or see some beauty.
"Hand grenade pins in every line'
throw 'em up and let somethin' shine,
goin out of my f***ing mind!"
See? He's so overwhelmed by the ugliness of war he'll do anything to get out of it. He talks about killing himself-trapping himself in a trench, or hanging himself.
Gotta admit, I agree with him sometimes. -
This isn't an interpretation, just an observation - does anyone else notice the WW1 themes in the song?
I mean, it talks about grenades, shotguns (did they have shotguns in 1914? I'm sure they did), generally war-like words, and trenches.
I don't know, maybe that's just Shinoda making the words all metaphorical and flow-together-y, because some of the suggestions the others had seem much more plausible. And mine isn't even a proper interpretation. -
Michael Shinoda the guy that raps in this song said that this song was about the fact that everyone was pressuring him to write a song for the groups next single and he just couldn't write the song and the song is basically about how he bleed out this song.

My thought is that the verses are about suicide. just read this
Yeah here we go for the hundredth time
yeah we have tried it a hundred times but we can't do it
Hand grenade pins in every line throw 'em up and let something shine
pull the pin and throw the grenades up hoping it blows you up
Going out of my fucking mind
i can't take it so I am going crazy
Filthy mouth, no excuse find a new place to hang this noose
yes I know it aint good for me to cuss but I want to die
String me up from atop these roofs knot it tight so I won't get loose
pull the noose tight so I do die
Truth is you can stop and stare run myself out and no one cares
stare at me while I hang and suffocate and noone tries to save me
Dug the trench out laid down there with a shovel up out of reach somewhere
dig my one grave and just lay in it till I die
Yeah, someone pour it in make it a dirt dance floor again
pour the dirt in and smoth it over
Say your prayers and stomp it out when they bring that chorus in
say your prayers when they discover I die
I bleed it out digging deeper
Just to throw it away
i cut my wrist and bleedmy blood out
Go stop the show choppy words and a sloppy flow
go someplace that someone you don't like is at and get them to kill you
Shotgun opera lock and load cock it back and then watch it go
pull a shotgun on opera cock it and have someone kill you then wach you bleed
Mama help me I've been cursed death is rolling in every verse
mom I hate my life and I try to kill myself every day
Candy paint on his brand new hearse can't contain him he knows he works
a guy is painting his hearse -and when I die I have to ride in it
Fuck this hurts, I won't lie doesn't matter how hard I try
it hurts to try to kill yourself and I just can't do it
Half the words don't mean a thing and I know that I won't be satisfied
suicide helpline dosent work
So why try ignoring him make it a dirt dance floor again
just let me die in peace
Say your prayers and stomp it out when they bring that chorus in
preivios
I bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away
previos
I've opened up these scars I'll make you face this
i cut my arms again and you have to deal with it
I've pulled myself so far I'll make you, face, this, now!!
i finally did it and you deal with it
I bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away
i cut my arms so bad andjust kept cutting that I justthrew my life away -
This song is an indictment against the people who hate the group, calling theme a bunch of candy-ass mopers who complain about life while swimming in money and fame.
Yeah here we go for the hundredth time,
Hand grenade pins in every line
Throw 'em up and let something shine
Same old songs, each verse loaded with conflict and doom.
Going out of my fucking mind
Filthy mouth, no excuse
Find a new place to hang this noose
String me up from atop these roofs
Knot it tight so I won't get loose
Our verses are unrepentantly terrible, so if you want to criticize us, do your worst.
Truth is you can stop and stare
Bled myself out and no one cares
Dug a trench out, laid down there
With a shovel up out to reach somewhere
Yea someone pour it in,
Make it a dirt dance floor again
Say your prayers and stomp it out
When they bring that chorus in
We've heard it all, so anything you say to us will come too late to even hurt us.
Shotgun opera, lock and load
Cock it back and then watch it go
Mama help me, I've been cursed
Death is rolling in every verse
Candypaint on his brand new hearse
We're drama queens, woe is us! Hear the pain in our verses, but look at the symbols of success that cover our tragic asses.
Can't contain him, he knows he works
Practice hurts, I won't lie
Doesn't matter how hard I try
Half the words don't mean a thing
And I know that I won't be satisfied
We work our asses off to get here, but you say" it's garbage", so who cares? -
Saying bad things are taking place and there are those that want to wash it away to just forgive and forget and move on so they can take advantage of the spoils, wife kids and the other tangible assets, of those that die 'to protect us', and the last part, saying I will make you face this, there is no white wash or primer that can hide me because I will bleed right through. He knows they have ways of getting rid of you if they want to.
The title is a play on block it out as if to block out or hide a dirty that seems to be a given. These 'volunteers' get hurded through a system, shoved (Shavi-) to their ending to be killed with a shank (shankar) for what purpose to protect the many or to protect the elite and 'the church' or the 'tap' will help us stitch it closed with salutes and ribbons and bows and color glass and a rose. We salute you (and our hearts bleed for you).
Saying nothing seems to change no matter how much we struggle to do what is right only to find that what we thought was right was wrong, climb up, slide down, and then get back in line again because we are not supposed to look back. Speak out now and you will be killed. -

Ok my interpretation may be a little different but by looking at the lyrics it really seems like somebody who is getting bullied and the people doing the bullying are basically digging him a grave
"going out of my fucking mind" he can't take it anymore
"filthy mouth, no excuse" the people who make fun of him
"find a new place to hang this noose" so people won't find his body
"knot it tight so I won't get loose""dug a trench and laid out there" basically people digging his own grave
"I bleed it out, digging deeper, just to throw it away" the chorus basically saying that by killing himself, or burying himself is the only way to stop the bleeding, or in this case the verbal abuse -
Okay, I'm not going to write much here. My own interpretations would fill about 10 pages and I'm not surprised that people don't have much to say about it because ordinary people never do. Yes, this song is about self harm (and more). There is a huge amount of subtelty in this song. Don't bother trying to understand it if you've never felt the fire. But like all linkin park music (and other good music), it is more than just the lyrics. The rap is extremely meaningful and there's ambiguity in nearly every line (not to mention the significance of the rythym). The use of the "audience" adds subtelty and shows who "when THEY bring that chorus in" is referring to. The video, although one must be wary when watching videos as they are often not taken as seriously by the artists, shows the backward fight scene which also reflects the backwardness of "society".
