Linkin Park: Burning In The Skies Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Burning In The Skies Lyrics
The blood of innocence burning in the skies
I filled my cup with the rising of the sea
And poured it out in an ocean of debris
Oooooh, I'm swimming in the smoke
Of bridges I have burned
So don't...

everyone thinks of the song in diffrent meanings' thats what makes it special. it can make people really close to the song. but what i get from it is that, he made lots of mistakes and hurt alot of people, the blood of innocence burning in the skies is just another thing for saying i messed up and brought pain to all. and it just goes on how he is saying how he made it worst and how he just wants it all gone because he is gonna lose it all anyways. thats what i get, but i might be wrong.

According to me, this song is probably dedicated to 9/11. The first few lines refer to the death of innocent people, and all the "debris".
"But in the end we were meant to be apart" the falling apart of the two towers.
Bridges I have burned- The bond between the twin towers that fell apart -
Yeah. The song actually is about war, most likely atomic. It's right after "The Radiance," which contains the interview had with Robert Oppenheimer, often called the "father" of the atomic bomb, in which he stated how he felt when seeing the first test of the bomb. The album is a concept album about war, acceptance, atomic bombing, etc., etc. It can be taken as a relationship song, sure, but having the band state what the album is about pretty much sums it up.

Hey people no ones right or wrong if linkin park told you what its about thats only their Interpretation every one thinks differently and by the way loved what all of you thought its an amazing song :) <3
-
Ok,
First, I'd like to agree with the person that said it all depends on our character as a person.
I think it's obvious that one of the meanings to the song is about war, and not just for America, but for the entire world. The writer has lost someone he/she thinks didn't deserve in the first place, but misses his/her beloved anyway.
Another meaning could be like the music video says. (Did Joe Hahn direct that?) And be showing the completely different lives of different people when suddenly there's a bomb.
The last interpretation I could figure was the one that "@Dario Zorzetti Garcia" brought to our attention, the actual relationship one that had NOTHING to do with bombings and war and whatnot.
I would explain why but it's really already been said by "@Dario Zorzetti Garcia" I agree wholeheartedly with that interpretation. :) -
The first time i watched it all i thought was that they are showing that everyone has their own unique life with their own struggles, and the bomb just unexpectedly and unknowingly ended their lives.
-
it's probably a relationship thing.
"I use the dead wood to make the fire rise" he (or she) did something to make it worse
"The blood of innocence burning in the skies" the other person was not expecting it at all, or was 'innocent' in the relashinship
"I filled my cup with the rising of the sea" the 'bad' thing was going over time, but no one could stop it.
"And poured it out in an ocean of debris" and they just destroyed the other person with it all
"Oooooh, I'm swimming in the smoke" now he (or she) is left in a haze, and semily alone/ cant find anyone to help them in the mess
"Of bridges I have burned" the 'bad' thing he (or she) did
"So don't apologize
I'm losing what I don't deserve
What I don't deserve" the other person left, and now the relize that they wanted the person, but is too late, so dont be sorry for him (or her)
"We held our breathe when the clouds began to form" they both tryed to stop what was happening
"But you were lost in the beating of the storm" but the other person stop trying and gave up
"But in the end we were meant to be apart
In separate chambers of the human heart" they did not love each other, they were diffent in meany ways
"It's in the blackened bones of bridges I have burned" they did not work out because of the 'bad' thing that was happening
"The blame is mine alone for bridges I have burned" it was all his (or her) falt that they are apart, because he (or she) started what happened.
that's what i think the song is about. it's a very sad song :,( -
id jst like to state they all seem accurate...songs cn b interpreted in different ways cz were different ppl..we all have different translation...n plus..the second guy called the first one "bra" lmfao

I think that this song has nothing to do with any time of government it can be a personal experience so to me basically he says: "i used the deadwood to make the fire rise" (meaning) that he did something to worsen the problem.
Next phrase "blood of the innocence burning in the skies" (meaning) that the other person was too naive and didn't notice his lies.
Next phrase "I filled my cup with the rising of the sea" (meaning) that he made him self stronger with all the lies that he told to that person.
Next Phrase "And poured it out on a ocean of debris" (meaning) he used those lies to sentimentally destroy the other person to the point of bieng as he said debris.
Next Phrase "I'm swimming in the smoke of bridges i have burned" (meaning) I'm facing the consequences of the lies that i have told "so don't apologise I'm losing what I deserve" he finally lost that person and realizes the he deserve to have lost that person.
Next Phrase "we held our breath when the clouds began to form" (this if at all goes back to the relationship) (meaning) that the both tried to rough out their problems "but you were lost in the beating of the storm" (meaning) but the problems were to great for you and henceforth you gave up "but in the end we were meant to be apart" "separate chamber of the human heart" (meaning) that they had no bond at all like if they were from completely different planets.
The rest is really repetitive but in the part when he mentions "the black end bones" means that the reason it didn't work out was because of all the lies. Then a little more ahead he says " the blame is mine alone for the bridges i have burned" that means: that he was responsible for the conflict.
Well that was what i thought the song said i hope someone agrees with me or at least sees the link in between the song and my meaning. -
@Disturbed666 hey "bra" its so not necessarily just the american war they might be talking about, it cab be any scenario where innocent people were hurt and the singer or the person this song is dedicated to lost someone in this incident Hiroshima-Nagasaki was only an example.I do agree that they might be criticising the govt. Also wars are not only fought in the USA but there is a war over sone topic in every damn country and as far as i am concerned i think linkin park dont sing songs with only one country in mind.thus i am terminating this correspondance with you,my dear friend Disturbed666.
Enjoy your disturbance(which in this case could be me),

P.S:And dont think that only "bra" listens to linkin park. This is a sister signing off.Goodbye. -
We held our breath when the clouds began to form
But you were lost in the beating of the storm
But in the end we were meant to be apart
Like separate chambers of the human heart......
OWWW!!! Lp brings feelings to life! They sure does. And in this album they expressed how regretful and helpless we are when facing our dark side. And this song is simply the summery of our regretful life on earth.
Of course the war and bombings are not the main thing that we are regretting about in this song but it is only reminding us what we did in the past and how powerful the evil in our heart can be.Maybe in near future we shall commit something so terrible that we'll no longer be able to forgive ourselves.Maybe we'll find ourselves no more than some heartless monsters. All we'll be able to tell ourselves then that we deserve no warmth of love cause we've burnt the bridges by our own hands.
This is more like it-Imagine "Once I met a girl so pure like nature, and I promised her a beautiful future. But I was unable to hide the darkness when opening my heart to her,Becoming afraid she left me with a sorry and the truth was too much for me to bear."
someday when we'll find us in a history full of distraction and pollution we might no longer think us as good as to be loved. It will be hard for us and don't know if we can stand it.But we will tell ourselves,"we've lost our love cause we didn't deserve it.And what has happened to us is right because this way we can save at least one thing from being polluted."
The song is beyond words. The simple admitting "don't apologies, I'm losing what I don't deserve" is more cold and bold than it sounds. It is clear that what we are going to loose is love and LP says that we don't deserve it. -
According to me burning in the skies stands for a bomb blast or to be specific the hiroshima-nagasaki incident. In the second para they say 'the cloud began to form' which for me stands for the mushroom shaped cloud formed after the explosion and the singer somehow considers himself responsible. Also he has been separated from someone after the incident but thinks he deserves it as he was responsible for so many lives. On a personal LINKIN PARK totally ROCKS and this song is AWESOME!!!
