Linkin Park: Iridescent Meaning
Song Released: 2011
Iridescent Lyrics
When you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down
Your insides crying, "Save me now"
You were there, impossibly alone.
Do you feel cold and lost in...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about looking at all the bad things that have happened in your life and forgetting about them. Telling people to look at the good things instead of the bad ones, especially in hard times.
"Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?" Someone who does or has felt lost and that every thing is hopeless.
"You build up hope but failures all you've known." someone who keeps trying and trying but nothings going their way no matter what.
"Remember all the sadness and frustration and let it go." Like i said before, don't keep worrying about you past, and don't bottle up everything inside, learn to move on to happier things :) -
2TOP RATED
#2 top rated interpretation:believe it has to do with somebody who might be suicidal, "insides crying save me now" which could mean put me out of my misery, save me. And all the other lyrics kinda go with the same topic of somebody who is suicidal, feeling alone "you were impossibly alone", being cold and 'dead inside' ("do you feel cold and lost is desperation"), and a not necessarily suicidal person, but a depressed person definitely would have some kind of failure that they constantly bring up and put themselves down because of it, and with "You felt the gravity of tempered grace
Falling into empty space
With no one there to catch you in their arms" I think that part symbolizes feeling alone and having no one to go to and calling without anyone to catch you. And most of what I have said is reliable through me, because it defines me basically -
3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I think this song is about releasing all the bad times in your life and just letting it all go. It could also mean that no matter what, there is one person out there who understands you and can help you. You just need let go of all the bad times, and go find them.

[Since Chester Bennington's death, I cannot get through this song without thinking of him and crying. I also cry for all those who have survived abusive pasts and have been unable to shake the desperation left in the "wake of devastation".
Letting go is a constant theme throughout the album.
Looking back to "Robot Boy":
And you're sure you've hurt for so long
You've got nothing left to lose
So you say you're not gonna fight
'Cause no one will fight for you
You say the weight of the world
Has kept you from letting go
Let WHAT go? The pain, the hurt, the desperation, the hate. The world teaches us to hate, to separate, to discriminate, to live in chaos. Love, a gift from God, teaches us to let go, to forgive, to work together, to live in peace. It is a daily fight and often difficult to overcome because of our human nature. We want revenge, retaliation, so-called justice.
From "The Catalyst" and in Japanese in "Jornado Del Muerto":
"Lift me up, let me go."
Lift me up above the desperation and pain. Let me go to live in peace.] -
In my opinion, this song is about someone who has gone through a lot of tough times, feels lost, etc. And you have to try to let go of the past and move on. Let go of all the burdens holding you down, and well... move on.
-
I think that the song simply means let go of the past and move on.
-
This song is about all the frustrations in life and how people actually come to deal with them and forget about those problems.
-
I think this song is about looking at all the bad things that have happened in your life and forgetting them. It also tells us to look at the good things instead of the bad ones, especially in hard and difficult times.
the lyrics :"Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?" suggests that someone who is lost and that everything is hopeless.
Another part of the lyrics states says:"You build up hope but failures all you've known." It means someone who keeps trying and trying but nothing’s going their way no matter what.
The last sentence of the lyrics says: "Remember all the sadness and frustration and let it go." It means that don't keep worrying about the past, and don't bottle up everything inside. Learn to move on to happier things in life. -
I think a lot of people didn't understand that A Thousand Suns is a socio-political concept album.
"When you were standing in the wake of devastation
When you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down
Your insides crying, Save me now
You were there, impossibly alone."
Atomic bombs are falling from the sky (wake of devastation, cataclysm raining down). People don't know what is going to happen and have fear (waiting in the edge of the unknown, insides crying "save me now").
"And in a burst of light that blinded every angel
As if the sky had blown the heavens into stars
You felt the gravity of tempered grace
Falling into empty space
With no one there to catch you in their arms."
The explosions killed a lot of innocent lives (burst of light that blinded every angel) and made a lot of mess (sky had blown the heavens into stars).
Some people survived (felt the gravity of tempered grace), but then found themselves in a place flattened by the bombs (Falling into empty space) and without their family (no one there to catch you in their arms).
"Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?
You build up all the failures, all you've known.
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go.
Let it go."
Survivors feel desperate, lost and realize all their failures in the past.
Chester gives them an advice: remember the sadness and frustration of the human past (the actual society) and let it go (build up a new, better world). -
it's about letting go of the past and bad things that happend and having no shame in doing so espeacially when you personally know you were good at what you done even when results that seem pretty unfair that you were not expecting and theres nothing much you can do about it and not feel frustated about it due to the the fact that it was a turning point of your life with failiure as the only thing often came across and no there to support you. So just let it go just keep doing what you do best and don't linger onto negativity you can't change and someone will always believe in even though it may not seem so.

The song and THE ENTIRE ALBUM is a NUCLEAR, NEW WORLD ORDER WARNING all inter linked! LINKIN PARK ARE BEYOND EXTRA ORDINARY, THEIR CLASS WITH WORDS, THEIR POETRY IS BEYOND SUBLIME! WHAT THEY REALLY WANT YOU TO DO WITH THE 'THOUSAND SUNS' IS PONDER OVER THE ENTIRE ALBUM AND RESEARCH ON THE SUBJECT AT HAND!
Linkin Park's poetry is very very similar to mine, and as an artist, I know what an artist really wants the audience to know.
you may check out my poetry on topics of nuclear war, oppression of people, and world crisis and hope on-

Know the truth about your own world. Reason. Ponder over the lesser known. Provide a sanctuary of free thought to your Soul. Wake up from the trace and crawl out of the Abyss. Be informed. aND DO INFORM. Spread the truth. Do not run away from it cos the lies make you feel comfortable. You cannot run away from the truth. Cos the truth behind their lies has consumed you within and without. Let your perspective of reality be shattered to collect the fragments and develop a new mirror, without crypts, without lies. ! Wake up! You may call me paranoid, pessimist, but I'm just a human loving humanity. -
I think that this song means that no matter how many bad things have happened to you,or mistakes you've made that you should keep moving on and think of all the good things in life and to remember that you have a reason to live and have hope in life. I love this song and it brought me to tears because I i've felt that pain that linkin park said to let go and move on in the song I LOVE LINKIN PARK LP FOREVER!!!
-
i love this song it brought me to tears it spoke 2 me in that i know what it feels like to contemplate ending it all and then taking a step back and realizing i do have a reason for living <3 :')

The meaning of this song is pretty straight foward, hence the connection to it. It's about drowning in failures, desperately seeking salvation from the "cataclysm" only to face it alone with no help in sight. The song's depth lies in telling the listener to "let it go", my interpretation is to keep moving foward. It's not about forgetting the past, but keeping the past and carrying the burden foward.
-
My interpretation of this song is that it is for all the soldiers in war. I think it's telling them that, yeah, you might've messed up, but that's okay. It gets better.
I think it's telling them to remember the friends and comrades they lost, but not to blame themselves for their deaths. Don't hold yourself responsible for all the things that went wrong; learn from them, and grow. -
My interpretation is that the singer is trying to get over the bad things in his past by looking the future
-
This is a very inspirational song for all of those who are going through hard times, You have to let go of your past because the past will never change, you may not be able to change the past but you can create a better future for yourself by keeping your head up and not letting anyone bring you down. That's what I've started doing ever since I heard this song and it's worked out great, I'm sure all of you will be able to do the same. As the great Chester Bennington says "Remember all the sadness and frustration, and let it go." LP forever God bless.
-
well, like a lot of others, i think this song is about letting go, maily to those who think they had failed in everythign they do. every line, every word brings back to how you should let go of everything, remember and then forget, because it's for the best. and probably at the end when a whole group of people are singing, it means that are are a lot of people like you, you arent the only one and they all are wiht you, weather you knwo them or not.
you kist have to let go
