I'm sure the lyrics are easy to understand, it clearly suggests that the singer trusted someone a bit too much and he betrayed them or let them down.
The singer could be a common citizen to a king who lost it all.
It could be about a relation, a boy who trusts his girl too much who in return breaks it, or vice versa. ;)
It could also be a family issue, suppose where as the children grow into teens they stop loving their family that much and start doubting them.
Or a simple betrayal of a soldier by a fellow troop for escaping a trench.
It starts with the first few lines describing how the singer reveals all his secrets to a person of relation or whatever. A person who had once broken him but had asked for another chance to prove himself. The person has, however, not changed, and betrays him again. He knows too much about the singer and willingly or unwillingly lets him fall and brake apart by promising him lies. It describes how the singer tries to fight back but eventually fails and his ...in the end, Powerless to do anything -
