Marilyn Manson: The Speed Of Pain Meaning
The Speed Of Pain Lyrics
Like we were flowers
And our milk has been
Devoured
When you want it
It goes away too fast
Times you hate it
It always seems to last
Just remember when you think
You're free
The crack inside your fucking heart is...

#1 top rated interpretation:Manson is expressing the pain of breaking-up with a woman he loved turn on him . He wishes he could fix the speed of pain. The lyrics go "When you want it, goes away too fast. When you hate it, always seems too last." He still want's pain in his life, but only when he want's in. He says"The Crack Inside Your Fucking Heart Me," saying she will always regret turning her back on his love. One of the key verse is "I Wish I Could Sleep, But I Can't Lay On My Back, Cause There's A Knife, For Every Day, That I've Known You." Which explains the betrayal of the woman. This betrayal was so bitter and hurtful, Manson see's everyday spent with her a waste and another knife in his back. The last verse appears is "I Hope At Least We Will Die Holding Hands," Even though she betrayed him, he stills cares about her and wants to die with her. It's a great song, one of Manson's finest!

It's about drugs

It seems that Marilyn Manson was revealing His feelings in this song that are coming more from the heart of a Positive and true empathetic Christian that truly loves. Instead from the point of view of a anti Christ that ''They'' labeled him as one of them. On the opium flower drug ''They'' cut and sold them through His girlfriend to enjoy. Furthermore in this union with her compares him to his ''supposably known'' Catholic fascist throat cutter girlfriend of his that left him bleeding towards the end. Physically and psychologically in symbolic and metaphorical way to feel ''The Speed Of Pain'' that he tries to outrun, but only deepens in the night when falling asleep with the knife that she had stuck in his back. Even though she doubled crossed him, he knows the meaning of love and only love can destroy this evil act that came between them, who still cares and wants to love her to the end by wanting to hold her hand that would have a everlasting feeling of the love he has always had for her.

The song is about the (drugs) as was alot of mechanical animals album. "When you want it It goes away too fast Times you hate it, It always seems to last" Here the is talking about craving drugs but hating the fact that you are now a slave to them."They slit our throats Like we were flowers And our milk has been Devoured" - Here he talks about drugs in the form of the poppy flower which when cut bleeds a milk used to make opiates and pain killers like heroin. Remerber the front of the cd thats a pill "coma"? what about the dope show? Heroin can slow you down and ease phisycal and emotional pain:"outrace the speed of pain for another day" because its a pain killer. When you withdrawl off of drugs you lay in bed and are very sick and cant sleep. Even when you get through all this you are still and always an addict and alot of addicts go back to using drugs Ie: "just remember when you think You're free... The crack inside your fucking heart is me" here he is asking the drugs to lie to him and stay with him: "Lie with me, die with me, give to me I would."
In this last part he talks about wanting to use forever and never let go...well alot of drug addicts die this way but usally of a overdose. "I hope that we die holding hands for always"
