Marilyn Manson: Tourniquet Meaning
Song Released: 1997
Tourniquet Lyrics
Things I cannot speak
She comes on like a crippled plaything,
Spine is just a string
I wrapped our love in all this foil,
Silver-tight like spider legs
I never wanted it to ever spoil,
But flies will...
-
It's just a sexual act, but the woman went pregnant because his sperm went in.. he never wanted it to end like this but flies will lay their eggs
-
The song is about the torture of the worm and how he realizes his place is to be hurt "She's made of hair and bone, little teeth, things that cannot speak, she comes on like a crippled plaything, spine is just a string" this describes what is presumably a doll that the worm uses to keep himself calm. The chorus states the main idea that the Worm accepts his torture from abusers and that sentiment comes from his horrific self-loathing.
-
She's made of hair and bone and little teeth
Things that cannot speak
She comes on like a crippled plaything
Spine is just a string..
(A vulnerable woman needing attention and fixing.)
I wrapped our love in all this foil
Silver-tight like spider legs
I never wanted it to ever spoil
But flies will lay their eggs
I gave her all the attention she begged for. did what I could to make her feel safe. A sense of security can breed impulsivity. (go back to what your used to)
Take your hatred out on me
Make your victim my head
You never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet
- now she is done with me for the moment. however, she knows I will be here when she is hurting again.
Prosthetic synthesis with butterfly
Sealed up with virgin stitch
If it hurts, baby, please tell me
Preserve the innocence
We both know this is not going to last. we will pretend its innocent and has always been true. wellmake it beautiful. If you are tired of this, let me know, and we can be done with it. let me go.
I never wanted it to end like this
But flies will lay their eggs
I didnt want this. but our deamons came between this.
What I wanted, what I needed, what I got for me [2x]
I did this for me not you.
Take your hatred out on me
Make your victim my head
You never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet
Blame our toxicity on me, make yourself the victim. I thought I was the one there when you needed me.
Take your, take your
Get up out of me
I'm not proud with me
I never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet
Cominmg to realize that I thought you needed me, but I cut off your circulation (life).
just a thought anyway. -
He's saying he will stop the bad blood flow,he will do anything,to make sure you are happy
-
i thought of it as some thing a little different that she came to him as needing to be rescued some one who needed to be saved fight her battles for him but it wasn't that way at all she ends up hurting him he and taking her hate anger frusteration out on him she isn't as sweet innocent and wounded as she appeared to be. she didn't need to be saved she needed a punching bag for mental anguish

Ok at the beginning he says "she comes on like a crippled plaything,Spine is just a string" what he means is he enjoys what she's doing because she's like his "plaything". And he says "spine is just a string" what happens when you have a puppet with strings? You're in control. Then he says "I wrapped all our love in foil silver tight", "I never wanted our love to spoil, but flies will lay their eggs" ok this seems weird but simple. When you wrap food up tight it doesn't spoil, but only for a certain amount of time because eventually something bad will get to it and infect it. "flies lay eggs" ok what HE means is that he tried his best to keep their love tight and he wants it to last. But he knows he has to face the fact that nothing lasts forever. Then the chorus goes on to say "take your hatred out on me,make your victim my head, you never ever believed in me,I am your tourniquet" ok he means he doesn't want her to feel bad or have any problems and he knows she's leaving soon so he pretty much begs her by saying "you won't be angry anymore take it out on me". "make your victim my head" he means "give it to me fill my head with your hate I'll be your victim" When he says you never believed in me I am your tourniquet he means "you never thought I loved you so I'm proving to you that I do,your in control I am YOUR tourniquet" then he says "prosthetic synthesis with butterfly, sealed with virgin stitch,if it hurts baby please tell me" he means she's going through a phase and it hurts so he pretty much says "I know your going through pain so I'm here, tell me if it hurts so I can take it AWAY by you taking it OUT ON ME". Then he faces the fact that it's over and he done everything he could by saying "I never wanted it to end like this but flies will lay their eggs" then he says "what I wanted, what I needed, what I got for me" in a tone where it seems as if he talked to himself saying "I got what I needed and wanted but was it really what I wanted? Because it didn't last forever it's gone" then he says the chorus again but a few words switched he begs again and says "why? I have nothing to live for I don't believe in me". So to sum up this long ass interpretation IRS a song about a guy that loves a girl and is happy because he has something under control for once and tries to keep it and he believes in himself but then he abuses the love and it's over but nothing to do he tries to prove to her that he loves her and he'll take away her pain. But she doesn't listen so he goes crazy and realizes that there's nothing left. Well that's finally it. If you lasted this whole thing then you really care about this so good job. Gotta go keep it West Peace.
