You Hold Me Down Lyrics

I found a letter that said:
"I'm sorry that you were asleep when I wrote these words down,"
You'd think I'd ought to be used to that by now.
Save for a few of those late night episodes,
Missed opportunities, and "I Don't Cares,"
There's not...

Basically the most tragic song ever written.

The singer finds a letter, which is the whole song, minus the first line. His girl is madly in love with him (and presumably he with her), but she has to break up with him, because his drug use is holding her down. you can tell she really doesn't want to, and we can only assume that he didn't want to either, or else he wouldn't be singing about it. And, clearly, she doesn't know how to tell him. (p.s., she eventually decides on a letter.)

I like to think that as the story continues after the song, he manages to kick the habit and they get back together and live happily ever after. :)

This song is written in the point of view of a girl that has just written him a note. It's a very romantic-tradgedy. She loves him very much, he's the reason why she bursts and blooms, but sadly he's holding her back- Probly due to his alchohol and drug abuse, and the thousands of other hangups this lead singer has (he's a very Emo dude).

"You're the echoes of my everything,
You're the emptiness the whole world sings at night.
    You're the laziness of afternoon,
You're the reason why I burst and why I bloomed..
You're the leaky sink of sentiment,
You're the failed attempts I never could forget.
You're the metaphors I can't create to comprehend this curse that I call love..
How will I break the news to you?"

    It's so pretty *tear*
