Muse: Supermassive Black Hole Meaning
Supermassive Black Hole Lyrics
Oh baby dont you know I suffer?
Oh baby can you hear me moan?
You caught me under false pretenses
How long before you let me go?
You set my soul alight
You set my soul alight
(You set my soul alight)
Glaciers melting in the dead of...

#1 top rated interpretation:First listen to this song,I know that Bellamy's in real suffering... He really love someone but his love's in return. She don't care about him.... "you're the queen of the superficial" shows that she just pretend to love him. never appreciate all he's done for her, shows that she likes to make men appraise and adore her and make them suffer because of their own feeling.

#2 top rated interpretation:Its actually about any career that you would be famous for hense the superstar sucked into the supermassive black hole, and how its not what its built up to be hense you're the queen of the superficial.

3TOP RATED
#3 top rated interpretation:I see a man who is in a reality that only exists to him. He can create it however he wants, but it betrayes him. His perfect world becomes his personal nightmare... I know this isn't the meaning, but my imagination is so stong, I create my own music videos. This is just what came most vivid to me.

A man who lived in material world has learned to be superficial in relationships. Just do what society approves until he met his soulmate. He feels his spirit again and the profound connection.
But he’s been living the old way for too long to change. So he denied her love and trying to go back to the old world. Then he found out once he remembered, he suffers from the old living. So he feels the experience of meeting his soulmate causes him pain -
I agree with who posted about the super star being in love with a person who doesn't love him.
Back and he is trying to let her go because he has realized that she is superficial and just using him for whatever she can suck out of him and he feels like he is being sucked into a black hole for whatever reason. -
I think it is about sex. It is very simple.

This could be about any addiction--drugs, alcohol, a person, our behavior in front of others; that feels so wonderful at first, followed by the despair of consequences or of doing without.
-
Its about sex. Clearly said.

Call me crazy, but it mimics the tragedy of the Titanic. The supermassive black hole being the ocean. The queen of the superficial- the oceanliner was the queen of it's time and was obvioulsly the top of the line of it's day (the superstar sucked into the supermassive). And then of course, the glacier in the middle of the night.

It sounds like they are talking about planet earth and the way that we abuse it. Don't you know I suffer? (Mother Earth)..can't you hear me moan (Again, Mother Earth) false pretenses (promised to care for her but we use and abuse her)how long until you let me go (Stop killing the planet). This is what makes most sense to me. I think that the message is meant to bring awareness to the beat down we give our planet. Queen of the superficial (would be the humans who only love the earth for what it gives them)....etc.
