Muse: Take a Bow Meaning
Take a Bow Lyrics
You're corrupt
Bring corruption to all that you touch
Hold
You behold
And beholden for all that you've done
And spin
Cast a spell
Cast a spell on the country you run
And risk
You will risk
You will risk all their lives and...
-
It's about George Soros. He corrupts everything he touches. He casts a spell on the country he loves. He will burn in hell for what he's done.
-
Pretty clearly it's Blair. The 'you will burn' is a reference to Blair's supposed conversion to catholicism, and the rest fits like a glove too: well known for his charm (Brown is charm-free), spin (Bush just lies) and corruption (Morgan Chase bank involvement).
-
can"t be about the church when the lyric says "cast a spell on the country you run". It is clearly a politically motivated statement about a political leader/leaders. Claiming a connection to the Catholic Church is grasping at straws. Besides. The Church doesn't hold political power anymore, anywhere on the planet outside of Vatican City.
-
Yes those were not the exact lyrics but your fans , you know how the song really goes "come ride with me, through the veins of history Ill show you how God , falls asleep on the Job. But the take a bow is totally about the Church dont you think?
-
Take a Bow. To me is all about the Catholic Church and its iorn rule of this planet. You risk all of their souls, Those who worship lies and currupt their people to hate and believe in greed force belief of product over reason, Of want over need, of money over compasion, of staying asleep over being awake, over, dont pay attention pay the rent and keep your head down and dont say a word. Muse has so many songs referencing these beliefs of against the Church , religion and it is very clear with lines like -take a stroll through the pages of history and Ill show you a God who falls asleep on the job. That their talking more of the big picture of life and not just America and Presidents.Cause who controls those things? But again. Thats jsut me. We all see what we want at times and your opinions make sense too. I just buy my inter more ;)

It's no specific leader as the post above says, if it did than we would be in some deep trouble. I think he's say ing many leaders get high on their power and try to put every thing in their own vision and interfier with stuff. A perfect example is America with libya. It is corrupt and all because its only over oil. That's why nothing is happening in the ivory coast. By the time we're 3-4 years into the war (mainly over some leader's hunger for oil), all of these "superpower" nations will be quarreling amongst themselves over situations one of their overpowered leaders dragged them into. This is just one of many instances in Which this happens. Our world is ruled by people who see something that they could bend to their will that ends up screwing everyone else long after they are gone.
-
The entire album could easily apply to any charismatic leader. If you despised Bush, it fits. Despised Blair, it fits. Despise Brown, it fits. Despise Obama, does it EVER fit.
The problem is, all of our world leaders fit this template. There is not a single one that truly cares for its people. If they did, they would shut down most of their own government actions, programs and policies and simply let the people rule themselves locally.
No political leader is EVER going to that.
Other than the means described in this album. -
You kids who say it's about george w. Bush, Matt is British. So you have to take that Into consideration, because I dont think he would care much about George screwing america
-
And our freedom's consuming itself,
What we've become is contrary to what we want
Take a bow.
I thinks he is saying that freedom should have given us the ability to make the world a better place but instead we use our freedom to be assholes, and we think we are better because of our freedom but we actually are the opposite because we take it for granted and don't use it to our advantage. Other than the fact that anyone of us can get on the internet and say whatever we like. -
I think it's about George W. Bush. I don't hate him, but Matthew does.
-
To the guy who said Hitler was corrupt, he wasn't. Well, not in the way you're thinking. His mind was obviously corrupt but he wasn't corrupt like an Illinois politician. (Zizzow!)
But to this song. I feel that its being incredibly sarcastic with the title. Its "Take a Bow" because Mathew is saying "Oh yeah, you guys are SO GREAT! Take a bow." -
I'm getting the feeling that Black Holes and Revalations is a concept album about a revolution. This song shows obvious disatisfaction with a political leader. However this disatisfaction turns into rebellion on songs like "Knights of Cydonia", "Assassin", "Exo-Politics", and "City of Delusion", after they unite during the song "Invincible". Sound logical?

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

Corrupt
You're corrupt
Bring corruption to all that you touch
Hold
You behold
And beholden for all that you've done
And spin
Cast a spell
Cast a spell on the country you run
And risk
You will risk
You will risk all their lives and their souls
The words are referring to the elites of society who, through sophistry, are able to "cast a spell" on society that they control. Some later words state that these elites will burn in hell. (Which they will)
And our freedom's consuming itself
What we've become
It's contrary to what we want
Some people have abused their agency and chose to commit immoral acts and that is why our society is falling apart.
