Muse: Time is Running Out Meaning
Time is Running Out Lyrics
Asphyxiated
I wanna break this spell
That you've created
You're something beautiful
A contradiction
I wanna play the game
I want the friction
You will be the death of me
You will be the death of me
Bury it
I...

I agree that he is treating the relationship like drugs. He knows it can hurt him but he doesn't want it to end
-
He treats their relationship like a drug. Though he knows that it is harming him, he is constantly, like a drug addict, drawn back towards it like an addict craving their next fix. It's about the contradiction of knowing what will save him, but being unable to draw himself away from that which will destroy him.
-
We think that this song is about contradicting relationships - you love someone but you hate them at the same time. see Space Dementia lyrics for proof.
By the way, can we stop assuming the worst of Matt Bellamy? It's like he's always involved in bad things in every song...just because you're not as good-looking or talented vocally as he is doesn't mean you can point fingers at him! Grrrr....we looooooove Muse! :D -
I always thought of it as drugs. Like, the
"I wanted freedom
Bound and restricted
I tried to give you up
But I'm addicted
Now that you know I'm trapped sense of elation
You'd never dream of
Breaking this fixation"
Makes me think of wanting to be free from drugs, but feeling trapped and addicted to them.
Not to say that matt bellamy was ever a drug addict. -
I agree with cjk.
I think it's about a broken relationship and he doesn't want it to be "buryed"
btw you up there ^ the lyrics are "now that you know I'm trapped. Sense of elation." -
I thought it was something to do with abortion. "I won't let you bury/smother/murder it" "you can't push it underground" and "Now that you know I'm trapped since ovulation" It does make sense if you listen to the lyrics, but I may be wrong

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
