Heaven Help Us Lyrics

Hear the sound
The angels come screaming
Down your voice
I hear you've been bleeding

Make your choice
They say you've been pleading
Someone save us

Heaven help us now
Come crashing down
We'll hear the sound
As you're falling down

I'm...

It iz about a the people in the world and all of the crap that we are doing to the world. "heaven help us" is a man crying out for help from god because of all of the things he has noticed about our world. "the angels come screaming" means that the angels are angry with all of the sins the people have committed. "I hear you've been bleeding" is about a person that has been giving her blood to be able to change the world. "cuz mostly I've been sprawled on these cathedral steps spitting out the blood and screaming someone save us" spitting out the blood means telling the world all of the horrible things he has done. "will you pray for me or make a saint of me" is him asking god if he will forgive him and help him make the world a better place. "cuz I'll give you all the nails you need" is him saying h will give god all the nails he needs to nail him to the cross, "cover me in gasoline" is him telling people to burn him while he is nailed to the cross.
Anyway that iz just my opinion and Im probably wrong so just deal with it.

I think this is a really great song. The title gives away a lot, it being about how he wants heaven to save us. It seems to be about someone seeing the world around him and seeing it for how it is, horrible and getting worse. I agree when it says, "Angels come screaming" that they know the horrible things going on down here. "I heard you've been bleeding" is saying that someone is trying to make the world a better place, but it isn't going well for them. The chorus is pretty straight forward saying come help us down here. The second verse is him loosing it dealing with all this crap and waiting for an answer to his prayer, "can't tell if i've been breathing or sleeping or screaming or waiting for the man to call" The next part he's begging heaven to help us while referring to him now bleeding along with whoever he was talking about in the beginning, "'Cause mostly i've been sprawled on these cathedral steps and spitting out the blood and screaming someone save us."
The bridge is a cry out for help asking for prayer, asking God to help him either get to heaven, save the world from themselves. It also says, "'cause i'll give you all the nails you need, cover me in gasoline, wipe away those tears of blood again." Im not too sure, but he is probaby referring to Jesus who dies and was nailed to the cross, and sweat blood. He is also saying "cover me in gasoline" because he knows he will have to suffer a lot to make the world better as it says in the bible that christians will suffer.
And the Outro is saying the same thing and also that nobody except him and God knows his sins, and that he knows he deserves hell, but he's going to try and make a path for Go, "'cause i'll give you all the nails you need, cover me in gasoline again" maybe also it says, "cover me in gasoline" because Jesus calls christians to be a light in a dark world, and maybe some people will burn, figuritivly speaking, to lead others to Christ. Anyways, I love that song and im probalbly wrong.

This is a beautiful song. My interpretation of it is someone, or a group of people, are calling out to Heaven to save them but it never works, so they're "sprawled on these cathedral steps spitting out the blood and screaming someone save us!". Like, they repeatedly ask God to save them and the world but nothing ever changes, nothing gets better, religion never helps them but they keep looking for someone or something to save the world when really we have to change the world ourselves

Many references to religious themes here.
Something devastating has happened to someone (or a group of people), either specifically or generally. They call out to God every time they are hurt. They 'spit out the blood and scream "someone save us"'.
The lines 'you don't know a thing about my sins...' remind me of the feeling of knowing your guilt, and yet hiding it. It is of someone who hates the world who loves them, because of their hidden sin.
