   The phrase 'Kiss the Ring' refers to having to perform a task you don't want to but are obliged to. At this point in MCRs career Gerard was slipping back into drinking and really suffering. They were under contract to release another album but Gerard was in no position to find it an easy or enjoyable task. Forced to complete it, this song is about being obliged to make a record for their label.
   Gerard is the King who wants to finish but can't - in his heart, he's gone.

   And put the whole damn room on the edge of the blade' refers to touring and putting everything into their concerts to give their fans a great night.
   
   'And if you don't stop believing, we'll keep believing
   You put the record on
   And live the life that you're making
   Shots that you're taking
   So grab the cash and run
   And let the suits watch each other kill one another
   It doesn't matter if the words don't mean a thing
   You're gonna kiss that ring' - A call to their fans to say that they still care about them and know it's mutual but it's time to stop. The 'suits' are the label bosses who are forcing them to keep going. Saying that it doesn't matter if the words don't mean anything, they are obliged to release an album. To MCR this is against everything they stand for as the lyrics are very important and they don't want to put out an album that means nothing either to them or their fans.
   
   Throughout he refers to it being hard to stay clean but they don't give a damn - this is the label again, not the fans.
   
   The irony of one of the catchiest songs from Conventional Weapons being about the label forcing an album out of them is typical of MCR who don't suffer fools gladly.
