Planetary (GO!) Lyrics

There might be something outside your window
But you just never know
There could be something right past the turnpike gates
But you just never know

If my velocity starts to make you sweat
Then just don’t let go
And if the heaven ain’t got...

This song is about rebelling against modern western society and its major constituents including commercialism, religion and social standards in general.

"There might be something outside your window
    But you just never know
There could be something right past the turnpike gates
    But you just never know"

Here, our singer is trying to coax or entice a friend/lover out of the safety and security of the moral majority. He's telling his friend that he's lived a sheltered life, and if he'd just take a look around, he would see amazing things, but he'll never know unless he tries.

"If my velocity starts to make you sweat
    Then just don’t let go
And if the heaven ain’t got a vacancy
Then we just, then we just, then we just
Then we just get up and go!"

Our singer is re-assuring his friend that things might get scary, but he'll be there with him/her. He's also reflecting flippantly on the what society views as the moral consequences of what they are about to do. "Heaven won't take us? Fuck 'em, we'll go somewhere else."

    "Ladies and gentlemen
    Truth is now acceptable
    Fame is now injectable
    Process the progress
    This core is critical
    Faith is unavailable
    Let's become incredible
    Please understand that"

Here our singer is noting that religion is dead (Truth is now acceptable, faith is unavailable), and commercialism has taken over (Fame is now injectable).

    "I can't slow down
I won't be waiting for you
    I can't stop now, because I'm dancing
    This planet's ours to defend
Ain't got no time to pretend
Don't fuck around, this is our last chance"

He's saying, "I'm taking this journey with or without you. I'm going to fight for what I believe in. This is our responsibility, and time is running out."

"Who they want you to be
    Who they wanted to see
Kill the party with me and never go home!
Who they want you to be
    Who they wanted to see
Just leave the party with me, and never go home!"

Here, "The party" is a metaphor for social conformity, as eluded to in the previous two lines: "Who they want you to be, who they wanted to see." Killing or leaving the party means rejecting the old societal standards and moving forward.

    "You're so unbelievable
    Uh, so unbelievable
    Uh, you ruin everything
    Oh, you better go home
    I'm unbelieve, yeah
    I'm undefeatable, yeah
Let’s ruin everything, blast it to the back row"

Being unbelievable and ruining everything here is a good thing. It suggests fighting against social norms. I'm not sure if "Oh, you better go home" is a serious statement to the friend, or a gleeful tease. I think its a tease, because he ends by saying "Let's ruin everything" as if they're going to stay together.

    "They sell presentable
    Young, and so ingestible
    Sterile and collectible
Safe, and I can't stand it
This is a letter my word
    Is the berretta
    The sound of my vendetta
Against the ones who planned it"

Here, he is complaining using words like "presentable, ingestible, sterile, collectible and safe" that "society" ruins children by making them conform at a young age.

He then goes on to state that this song is his manifesto--an attack on society ("those who planned it")

    "You keep eternity,
    Give us the radio
    Deploy the battery,
    We're taking back control
    Engage the energy,
    Light up the effigy
No chance to take it slow,
    By now I'm sure you
Know, know, know, know, know (1,2,3,4)"

Here he's speaking to the religionists. "You keep eternity" is a rejection of religious values. "Give us the radio" is a metaphor for the future. He's essentially saying "you religious folk are part of the past. The young rational generation will lead the way to the future.

This song is basically about how short life is, and how he's not going to wait around for something to happen when he could actually go out and live his life while he still has it.

A lot of people ask about the lines "fame is now injectable" and "faith is unavailable." Gerard has actually said that "I feel like that's the kind of world we live in right now. Fame is injectable, but faith is unavailable to us."

Ok I don't really have anything to say but I would like to know why he used the word Velocity... "If my velocity starts to make you sweat, then just don't, let go"

it's all that you guys said put together.
mcr's world is a distant future of what could really happen so, just in case, polish your boots and prepare to make a run for it.

I think this song is about someone who has been secluded from society for a long time and now the guy has reintroduced the person to society. The person thinks society has changed a lot and he's having problem adapting but the guy says he's not going to wait for him and he's gonna have to put everything in trying to change because that's the only way he can become normal again.

"There might be something outside your window
    But you just never know
There could be something right past the turnpike gates
    But you just never know"
You never know what's going to happen; no matter how cautious you are something could easily go very, very wrong.

"If my velocity starts to make you sweat
    Then just don’t let go
And if the heaven ain’t got a vacancy
Then we just, then we just, then we just
Then we just get up and go!"
Who cares what they think and say; we are what we need to be and I'm loving it

    "Ladies and gentlemen
    Truth is now acceptable"
People can be who they are

    "Fame is now injectable
    Process the progress
    This core is critical
    Faith is unavaliable
    Let's become incredible"
People are like barbies, trying to be perfect and people are famous for being basically strange. Because of this, you don't know who and what is true and what is false, therefore faith is unavailable when you don't know who to put your faith in.

    "Please understand that
    I can't slow down
I won't be waiting for you
    I can't stop now, because I'm dancing"
I'm not listening to what they say, because it doesn't matter. I'm having fun and living to the extreme and that's all I care about.

    "This planet's ours to defend
Ain't got no time to pretend
Don't fuck around, this is our last chance"
But then again, we do have to take all this seriously. Ish.

"Who they want you to be
    Who they wanted to see"
Everyone does what others want them to do. GOing by trends, hanging on the every word of the famous, etc.

"Kill the party with me and never go home!"
Who cares what they will say, just do this with me and have some fun!

    "You're so unbelievable
    Uh, so unbelievable
    Uh, you ruin everything
    No, you better go home"
Yes I know you're famous and all that, but you need to stick to what you do best: being what you're not.

    "I'm unbelieve, yeah
    I'm undefeatable, yeah
Let’s ruin everything, blast it to the back row"
I may be famous too but I stick to what I am and don't move aside for anybody!

    "Their so presentable,
    Young and so ingestable
    Stop, were recollectable
    And I can't stand it!"
They think they know it all

    "This is a let 'em
A word is no regret of the sound
Please don’t go back on us now"
You appear to think this is wrong. Shut up. I think it's right. I REGRET NOTHING!

"You keep eternity, give us the radio
Deploy the battery, we’re taking back control"
We don't need to live forever, we just want to enjoy the time we get. So let us live how we want, muthaf***ers!

"It gives the energy light up the effigy"
Effigy: a disliked symbol or figure. I think this means, again, who cares what they think. F*** them all and do what you f***ing wanna do. Sorry. I have f***ingtitis. It's very serious.

    "Are we still having fun?
    Are you holding the gun?
    Take the money and run
    We’ll never go home!"
Do you like being this reckless? I thought so. Let's go!

    "I’ve got nothing to lose
    You’ve got nothing to say
    And we're leaving today
    We’ll never go home!"
I don't really care, so let's keep doing this!

For me, it is truly a Doctor Who themed song. Even at the beginning there is a sound like TARDIS taking off.

"There might be something outside your window
    But you just never know"
The Doctor always appears in a life of his "companion" quite unexpectedly.

"If my velocity starts to make you sweat
    Then just don’t let go
And if the heaven ain’t got a vacancy
Then we just, then we just, then we just
Then we just get up and go!"
Now that's basically an invitation to join him in the TARDIS and keep it up.

Next part just reminds me of what the Doctor says whenever he goes for a new mission.

    "I can't slow down
I won't be waiting for you
    I can't stop now, because I'm dancing"
The Doctor NEVER slows down and won't wait for anyone.

    "This planet's ours to defend"
Every time the Doctor fights the alien invasion on Earth.

"Ain't got no time to pretend
Don't fuck around, this is our last chance"
As the Doctor often points out: the history happening before our eyes.

"Who they want you to be
    Who they wanted to see"
A clear reference to the Doctor's ID card, on which people see whatever the Doctor wants them to see. Also: WHO.

"Kill the party with me and never go home!"
Okay, so just disturb the bad guys and off to another time and space!

    "Your unbelieveable
    Uh, so unbleieveable
    Uh, you ruin everything
    No, you better go home"
What the Doctor says about his companions...

    "I'm unbelieve, yeah
    I'm undefeatable, yeah"
...and about himself: "I'm more than clever, I'm brilliant" and so on.

"Let’s ruin everything, blast it to the back row"
Again: fight the Daleks, Cybermen and other aliens.

    "Their so presentable,
    Young and so ingestable
    Stop, were recollectable
    And I can't stand it!
    This is a let 'em
A word is no regret of the sound
Please don’t go back on us now"
And now this sounds like the Doctor speaking about humans to another race invading the Earth.

"You keep eternity, give us the radio
Deploy the battery, we’re taking back control"
I bet this is starting up the TARDIS!

"It gives the energy light up the effigy
No chance to take it slow, but now I'm sure you know"
Seems like a metaphor of the Timelord changing his appearence.

    "Are we still having fun?
    Are you holding the gun?
    Take the money and run
    We’ll never go home!"
Not this is the part I'm not sure of. It might be just checking if everything is okay with the companion.

    "I’ve got nothing to lose
    You’ve got nothing to say
    And we're leaving today"
The Doctor is the last of his species, so he really has nothing to lose. So, if there's no objection, then let's just leave!

Okay, so this basically makes perfect sense to me. If you've read this far and you still don't know who is the Doctor, just watch the series. I recommend 2010 season 5 for starters, there's all you need to see in first episode or two ;)

well most people are saying about the "uh your unbelieveable" bit that someone is a party poop. I think this is saying about popular barbie etc types saying that just because they are being different that they are being stupid. (He sings it in a different voice if you heard) then they say, "yeah, i'm unbelieveable" saying, shove off it's a free country i can express my self sorta thing
the rest is sort of about taking risks and just doing what you want and not caring what people think

This is basically a killjoy victory song thing, I think. It's interlinked with current issues; injectablefame (notice my username;)) is definitely about how there's no talent anymore because corporations i.e BL/ind have spent so much time trying to gain money by controlling civilization that they've gone extremely far and nobody is really human any longer; except MCR. So now this is their motivation, as they are the only true humans left and they are used to their environment; it's a very comfortable song, and quite inspirational, 'I'm undefeatable' is capturing that mood which involves the extreme happiness of feeling invulnerable. He's getting angry at those who don't understand, and trying to explain to those who are trying, and they feel a sense of satisfaction because they have survived so far, and they are leading others. It's a very strong song.

"There might be something outside your window
    But you just never know
There could be something right past the turnpike gates
    But you just never know..."

I think that in these words, Gerard is implying that there is always a risk with whatever you do. So what is the point in living a safe life when you can have fun.

"If my velocity starts to make you sweat
    Then just don’t let go"

Here I think that he is saying not to get nervous and just go with it. For some reason this reminds me of drugs and peer pressure.

"And if the heaven ain’t got a vacancy
Then we just, then we just, then we just
Then we just get up and go!"

Pretty much, if we die, oh well. It was a fun way to go out anyway.

    "I can't slow down
I won't be waiting for you
    I can't stop now, because I'm dancing"

You are with him and hes not gonna stop the fun because your being a party poop.

    "Uh, you ruin everything
    No, you better go home"

Your stopping the fun you douche! you better go home!

so this is pretty much what I could pick out of this song. Im sure somebody will make more sense than I did
