Nickelback: Hero Meaning
Hero Lyrics
I am so high, I can hear heaven
Oh but heaven, no heaven don’t hear me
And they say that a hero can save us
I’m not gonna stand here and wait
I’ll hold on to the wings of the eagles,
Watch as we all fly...

I have to say that when I first heard the song on Spiderman I thought it was obviously about Spiderman, but just five minutes ago I heard the song and I was listening to the words and I thought of the exact same thing about Christianity as the anonymous guy above. So I came on line to see if anyone thought of it before, and I guess it has been thought of before. I am not sure that the writer attempted to do this. But I would say its fairly probable to say that Nickelback is NOT a Christian band. DUH. And Satan could easily use secular music by distorting the meaning to get into peoples minds. I am not slamming secular music but I think people when listening to secular music should realize what they are putting into their minds.

Jc8823 is right on the money. Thats what this song is about

I believe that this song is meant to put down Christianity.
"I am so high. I can hear heaven.
I am so high. I can hear heaven.
Oh but heaven, no heaven don't hear me.
(saying that those of us who believe in God must be high, and that heaven doesn't exist.)
And they say that a hero can save us. (speaking of Jesus and the Rapture)
Im not gonna stand here and wait. (it's 2007, and he's not here)
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away. (meeting Jesus in the air)
Someone told me love will all save us. (Jesus's love)
But how can that be, look what love gave us. (crime, wars, murder, etc.)
A world full of killing, and blood-spilling (see above)
That world never came. (Jesus never came to save us)
And they say that a hero can save us. (again, the hero is Jesus. Saving us refers to the rapture)
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as we all fly away. (meeting Jesus in the air)
Now that the world isn't ending, its love that I'm sending to you. (Jesus didn't come)
It isn't the love of a hero, and that's why I fear it won't do. (love of a hero refers to Jesus's love)"
