Nickelback: Savin' Me Meaning
Song Released: 2006
Savin' Me Lyrics
On these hands and knees I'm crawlin'
Oh, I reach for you
Well I'm terrified of these four walls
These iron bars can't hold my soul in
All I need is you
Come please I'm callin'
And oh I scream for...

I believe this song has many interpretations based upon what stage a person is in their life. My interpretation is a person, could be male or female who is in love with someone and wants to be with them yet time is running out. They feel that their life is not going very well and wants to be with this person so that they can live a life that they really want to live.
-
My intepretation is the guy is seeing people die and he is wondering what it is and how he can see it.
I think this song is kind of religious cause he might me asking god please help me get away from this.
I think when he could see the numbers that his life was on hold because right after he saved the girl he went right back on his cell phone maybe going on with his conversation before he got saved. -
It's about a guy wanting to kill himself, "he's on the ledge of the 18th story", and he says 'say it if its worth savin me' to people telling him to give him a good reason to live.
-
I saw no religious aspect in this song. =/ what I always thought of was a man in love and he wanted the person he loves (male or female, it doesn't matter much, it works both ways for me but whichever way you like) to tell him they love him back. To save him from his lifestyle.
But, you know, I'm a romantic. I just don't think it's religious. On the other hand, I haven't seen the video clip, so I'll go and do that now. -
Here's what I think. This guy in the song is always in trouble and has been to jail and has someone in his life and someone left him cause he is in and out of trouble and doesn't want to be with him because of all the pain they have been put through. He is basically an outcast from society and so he is depressed and feeling sorry for himself cause 1) the prison gates won't open up for me 2) heaven's gates won't open up for me and 3)these city walls ain't got no love for me...So he winds up on the 18th story about to take his life hoping someone cares enough to say stop or I love you and he wants it to be that one person cause he's secretly calling her( or could be god) in his head to come back and love him and save him cause no one else seems to care about him ....If he's worth it to her to save him from jumping maybe?..I don't know sounded good though

Some of the other interpretations may be right but what I personaly think is that they are showing that once you are saved you have to help to save another, and once you have done so the one you have saved has to save someone else, and so on and so on. I think this because at the start when he is saved the man who saved him was looking around wandering like he was seeing the numbers and he had to save one, once he saved the guy the "gift" was put onto the one that he had saved, untill he hads saved somone else. Its kind of like there trying to say that if a good deed is done for you, you should do one for someone else.
-
I believe that the lyrics are just very symbolic and that this person is feeling trapped inside a cage of their emotions. They feel they can't escape from this sort of imprisonment without the help of the one person they truly believe in. It doesn't have to be jesus or god, it could just be a friend, or family member who can help them and show them they aren't going down their path alone and can lead them away from the bad things. The video is pretty much like that, how far would you go to save someone before it's too late? How would you know without looking?

I believe this song definately has some religious aspect to it. I think this song is about someone who has definately made a couple bad decisions in their life or "walking down the wrong path", they want to change their life and sit things right and like most people that are really down in their lives, will start praying to god for answers. I believe that's where the chorus comes from, sort of challenging god to answer whatever questions this person has so that once they get their answers they can change.
"show me what it’s like
to be the last one standing
and teach me wrong from right
and i’ll show you what I can be
and say it for me
say it to me
and i’ll leave this life behind me
say it if it’s worth savin' me"
when they aren't getting the answers they want they get more frustrated and threaten if they don't get their answers they'll just end up getting worse or do something drastic with lyrics like this:
"i'm on the ledge of the 18th story"
and this:
"and oh I scream for you
hurry i’m falling
i'm falling"
this is just my interpretation, however I believe if you look too hard into something more often then not you'll end up finding what you started looking for. Any interpretation is a good one as long as you can back it up with the lyrics in the song. -
This song has no religious meaning whatsoever! The guy is not god. He was simply a lost soul who was given a gift in order to show him a thing or two about life... Ok maybe a tiny but of faith in there but still.

I don't think it's about jesus cause in the video the guy is first saved by another guy and that's when he can see the numbers above the peoples' heads.
