Nirvana: You Know You're Right Meaning
Song Released: 2002
You Know You're Right Lyrics
I will never promise to
I will never follow you
I will never bother you
Never speak a word again
I will crawl away for good
I will move away from here
You wont be afraid of fear
No thought was put in to this
I...

This song is about Kurt leaving the music business, It is not about suicide because Kurt did not kill himself,He was murdered, I think it is a song about him leaving Courtney and music, I also think You won't be afraid of fear are lyrics for Bean It is his swan song from breaking away from Courtney and the music business and telling Bean to be strong and he is leaving for her so she is not in a spot light the rest of her life.
-
I believe he wanted to escape his life, but no by suicide. He wanted to escape the fame and start fresh with Frances. I believe he was planning on leaving Courtney too? I think he just wanted peace away from everything that had hurt him. Whether or not he killed himself... I'm sure he's at peace now... I think this is song is a message to everyone that he was going to escape from it all

This song is about the thoughts of leaving Courtney and even the music industry. That's a fact; suicide was PROBABLY never a hard fact in Kurts mind, if at all.

1)Please, Quit trying to figure songs out. I've defaced at least three websites by telling them that interpretation is not important.
2)RESPECT HIS MUSIC. If you are coming on and saying "Nirvana sucked, ruined metal hair (etc.,)" THEN WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING UNDER THIS ARTISTS' NAME?
GET THE FUCK OFF.

This song might be a good-bye letter from Kurt.He was going to stop his music career, leave Courtney, and the audience who loved him too much. "I will never bother you.I will never promise to.I will never follow you.I will never bother you." this could mean that now he is going away from the spot light that he hated and live a solo, silent life. "Never speak a word again" means not to complain against his decision of leaving. "She just wants to love herself." means nothing more than what Kurt thought of Courtney. "PAIN!" This is the symbol of his life, what he felt and had to go through. "I am so warm and calm inside, I no longer have to hide." means he is pleased and happy and no longer need to be as twisted and negative. Finally, "You know you're right." This is very special. It means that whatever we predict of him are right. He just wanted to let go of everything. We are all correct in a way and our opinions are never to be disagreed. Kurt wanted people to know that. It was his last word to the people he was going to leave behind.
-
It means that he was going to be done with Courtney hence I will crawl away for good, and "pain" that he has to go.

i think this song is about 2 things
1)i don't think this song is about him about to commit suicide. He was very depressed so he was suicidal.
commiting sucide and being suicidal and two very different things(commit suicide-the act of killing oe's self)
(being suicidal-thoughts of suicide)
and/or
2)it can be about him wanting to leave courtney.maybe that's why it was realeased nearly a decade after his death. -
For me, this song expresses the death of a relationship.
You ever been in one that was going so well and then, for whatever reasons, "poof?" You're alone again. You try desperately to get back together, but the other half isn't feeling it, doesn't want listen to you, wants nothing to do with you anymore, doesn't let it get to her, makes you think you're at fault. You can't help how you feel. You can try to deny it, but "PAIN." She goes on her merry way, but it never really goes away. -
Ok It might be about his suicide or about him leaving Courtney and the music industry. Kurt's great uncles both committed suicide and he always joked as a kid about having 'suicide genes'. Kurt also said he was going to quit music and open a art gallery. He also asked for a divorce from Courtney, but it never happened. If it's about suicide its probably just Kobains twisted humor towards suicide not his actual one. It also could be about Courtney and his role in music. Depends on how you look at it.

First it would have been 2 years ago. Second, go to justicforkurt.com doosh bag! he didn't kill himself! there is no way he could. It's about him leaving Courtny and the music industry.

I agree with the anonymous dude. I don't think that Kurt killed himself. Even if he did die about three months after he wrote the song. Courtney took the band to court after the death of Kurt. I'm pretty suspicious. She lost didn't she? My cousin, T.J.,he loves nirvana like so much, downloaded this song to my computer for me. He's such a sweet-heart. Okay, maybe not. The point is,that she fought so hard because she wanted the world to believe that her and Kurt were happy together wih frances bean.

By the way people, tis song first surfaced at a gig shortly after the release of nevermind so saying that it is about him saying he is going to commit suicide are incorrect
