Okay I am probally one of nirvana's biggest fan's so here we go this song is about how Kurt was going to divorce courtny love because they had gotten into a fight the steaming soup begins to melt is heroine because you melt it the whole line she just wants to love herself is about courtny I have never faild to feel pain is how he feels about relationships the whole you know you're right I think I'm not sure on this one is how he knew it would never work so the song is not about sucide but how he feels for courtney

I agree with Trey Owen's interpretation, but up to a point. It is actually "I have never felt so well/I have never failed to fail." And It is clearly sarcastic.

This song may seem like suicide but I don't know. It sounds like Kurt is telling the fans that he's done with music. ;Lets talk about someone else; means that he has spoken and he is tired of being the leader of the generation. He is also leaving Courtney because ;she just wants to love herself;. ; Things have never been so swell I have never felt this well; means that he is happy to have decided this and he is feeling better. This seems like the truth to me but only Kurt Cobain can tell us.
    Peace, love, empathy,
    Trey Owen

Everyone who thinks this song is about suicide is wrong. First Kurt's suicide was a conspiracy, I do not believe he committed suicide. The song is about Courtney and him.

"No thought was put into this" he is talking about the marriage.
    and
"Pain you know you're right", I believe there is a deeper meaning behind this.
    ITS NOT ABOUT SUICIDE

This song was telling Courtney he was leaving her. Thats why she fought so hard to stop it from being released

It's a song to Courtney. He knew the relationship wasn't what it should be and that it did nothing but hurt both of them.

I definitely think it was about suicide since it was recorded less than three months before his suicide, and he says "I will crawl away from here you won't be afraid of fear no thought was put into this I always knew it would come to this". Also he says "let's talk about someone else". I would have more reasons but I don't remember all the lyrics right now.

Of course it has to do with suicide, what else would it have to do with? "I will crawl away for good" this couldn't mean anything else besides he is going to kill himself.

This song had nothing to do with planned suicide, yes, Kurt often pondered it in his lyrics, but this was not one of them. He was at a depressed period in his life and this seems like a plea to michelle(courtney). Take the song for what it is. There are underlying signs of depression, especially the fact that he keeps claiming he is happy with himself. but not once does he mention contemplating suicide.

Basically Kurt Cobain is telling us he's gonna comitt suicide; "I will move away from here
You won't be afraid of fear
No thought was put in to this
I always knew it would come to this"

    That basically says it all.
