Ordinary Man Lyrics
Then everybody knew my name
No more lonely nights, it's all for you
I have traveled many miles
I've seen tears and I've seen smiles
Just remember that it's all for you
Don't forget me as the colors fade

This guy is writing another album so he isn't done yet by all means. When he wrote this as its been covered already on an interview, his words were he thought he wasn't gonna make it through his ill health at the time especially when he had the bad fall couple or so years back. It wasn't a goodbye to music or touring or retiring. His words. He's even said if he starts to deteriorate he will go out his way and try and do one last show, maybe not a tour but one show to go out. I love Ozzy and this track gave me chills and still does. This album has some great tracks on it.

i think this is his goodbye and i heard the lyric "the truth is i dont want to die an ordinary man" if he dies of parkinsons disease he will die an EXTRAORDINARY man. I mean he could have died at 7 and not be an ordinary man

I think that its lyrics are saying that he doesn't want to become out of the spotlight and die an ordinary man. That when he first started playing with Black Sabbath he wasn't known then he was in the limelight of being popular and involved with drugs ect ...he made his better half cry .the rest of the lyrics tell the rest..he isn't getting any younger saying that he was finished with touring and I think he is saying that he isn't retiring completely because he doesn't want to die an ordinary man....

I hope like David Bowie, this is not his goodbye song to us. David Bowie knew when his end was coming with the song Lazarus. Let's hope he has many more years to live.

I believe the main objective of this song is to send a message to the fans by repeating "all for you" many times throughout the music. This song is sang by Ozzy Osbourne and Elton John, piano by Elton and guitar by Slash, what do all these three music legends have in common? Long history of substance abuse and often closeness to death, and in my perspective the content of the lyrics are a reflexion of the lives of these three men, saying "I've been higher than the blue sky" (reference to drug abuse); "Don't know why I'm still alive" and "Many times I lost control" (reference to their closeness to death). And at the end of each reflexion comes "I don't wanna die an ordinary man" which means that after everything these three legends have been through, all they want is to be remembered when the time comes, they want to be special in people's lives, they want to leave their mark in the world, which is something that we can all agree these three music geniuses have already done....
