Panic! At The Disco: Nicotine. Meaning
Nicotine. Lyrics
Burn my lungs and curse my eyes
I've lost control and I don't want it back
I'm going numb, I've been hijacked
It's a fucking drag
I taste you on my lips and I can't get rid of you
So I say damn your kiss...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song speaks for itself over all. "Cross my heart and hope to die" means essentially that he is making a promise he WILL keep. "Burn my lungs and curse my eyes" the side effects of smoking relate to his relationship. His lungs burn from trying to keep up with her toxic behavior, and his eye burn from looking at her horrid acts of betrayal.
"I've lost control and I don't want it back" he knows he no longer has a say in whether or not this relationship turns out well or not. And he's glad because having a say would mean having to put up with and clash with her.
"I'm going numb I've been hijacked" He doesn't feel anything for her anymore. But his mind keeps going back to thoughts of her even though he doesn't love her anymore, at least that's what he tells himself, and he's basically being controlled by her.
"It's a fucking drag" he knows that until he gets over and rid of her, he can never move on with his life.
" I taste you on my lips and I cant get rid of you" he's still thinking about her, but now instead of just simply wishing the for the thoughts to go away, he's actually fighting them.
"So I say damn your kiss and the awful things you do." he's finally telling her to screw off, that he knows what she is and he wants nothing to do with it.
"Yah you're worse than nicotine" It's not really her he's addicted to, it's her love. the only reason he stays with her is because he is most likely afraid of being alone. He doesn't se any other option until he realizes he'd rather be single and lonely than live another second with her because he finally figured out how bad she is for him and his sanity. "Its better to burn than to fade away" He'd rather feel all the pain that comes with a breakup then feel it slowly over time while she screws other guys and pretends he's not even there even though they are still together. "Its better to leave than t be replaced" is basically the same thing. part of it might be ego because he doesn't want to be in a relationship where he isn't enough for her. "I'm losing to you, Baby, I'm no match." This is when you realize that a part of him is not quite over her and sadly that part is starting to win out.
"Just one more hit and then were through" Most people cant accomplish anything hard unless given a deadline for some reason. I don't know why, but most likely its for an extra incentive. So he promises to himself that hell screw with her one last time and then break up with her. So he can fool himself into saying he's had his fill of his drug, which is her, and then he's strong enough to leave her. but that's quitting cold turkey so it'll be harder for him not to run back to her in the near future.
"Cause you could never love me back" he's justifying leaving her by describing part of who she is. She is unable to love him back. Part of it might be the fact that she doesn't want to for many reasons like she is afraid to for fear of being hurt, or that it's far too fun to play with his emotions and if she falls for him then she wont be able to hurt him.
"Cut every tie I have to you" he's going to remove anything that'll enable to contact her as well as anything that might trigger a thought of her otherwise it'll be harder for him not to be tempted to go back to her.
"Cause your loves a fucking drag but I need it so bad" He will fully admit to anyone who asks him that that relationship was not only never meant to be, but it was toxic. But he will also admit that he needs it probably more than he needs air or water or life itself because without her it all means nothing. So the real question is whether or not he will leave her or stay with her. If he does, he will have to learn not to care about himself at all in order to put up with her and all the awful things she does. -

#2 top rated interpretation:This song is very straight forward! It's bacically about a guy in love with a girl, however this girl does horrible things to him. It like you love someone but you are better off away from each other. He just can't stop loving her no matter what

Me personally, I feel two different ways about this song. 1. He's in a relationship that he doesn't think is working out. He liked her in the beginning and now despises of her. "Worse than nicotine" her love/she was addictive at first but his love is starting to dye out like a cigarette. "Just one more hit and then we're through" he wants to tell her but he doesn't want to hurt her.
2. Based on the music video, he loved this girl, but she died. It seems like he did killed her because the lyrics say "Just one more hit and then we're through" meaning he's about to kill her. Like a cigarette. -
y'all are stupid af, its ryden. I dont think y'all should be in this fandom. GET TF OUTTA HERE.
you do not belong in this fandom if you think nicotine is NOT about ryden. Bye. -
y'all are fake fans. ryro did exist in the band. Dont you hear it? In the start? I love ryan ross but not right now? I'm telling you. This song is completely about ryan. Listen to other songs too. At one point, love related songs after ryan are all about ryden. #changemymind bye.

What I think it is is that Brendon Urie(the singer) is in love with a girl but she is already dead and he says that she is worse than nicotine because he is more addicted to loving her than being addicted to.... smoking I guess. I wish he would stop smoking so he could live a longer life. Let's hope so, and if not, let's just hope he'll still live a reasonable amount of time...... love the song, so was hoping there would be many more amazing songs! It's music to my ears, his voice.

It's about Ryan Ross, simples,if you really listen to the lyrics, you will understand what I mean!

It's about ryden.

I see it as if he had fallen in love with her when it was originally just a hookup and he was gonna tell her that but she died before he could tell her what she meant to him. And now he has nothing left of her but a memory..... A strong one that is left in the white noise of time. He was left with all the built up emotion and love that he cant share any longer now that sge is gone. So this is where the term, it's better to leave than to be replaced comes in, hes suggesting that its it's better to leave the memory of her behind and recover than to replace it with his spiraling ciggarette addiction
-
I think according to the music video, it's about a man who is in love with a girl, but the only problem is that she is dead. Knowing this it torments him every day. I think the verse "you're worse than nicotine" implies that loving her is addictive and hard to stop.
