Panic! At The Disco: Say Amen (Saturday Night) Meaning
Song Released: 2018
Say Amen (Saturday Night) Lyrics
Been waiting for somebody else to carry me
There's nothing else there for me at my door
All the people I know aren't who they used to be
And if I tried to change my life one more day
There...
-
I know other people have written about the rest of the lyrics but I HAVE to wonder about the opening.
So someone says "cold open" which I couldn't make sense of (although it was strangely my favourite part of the song because it is actually a cold open to the song). I have to wonder whether the opening refers to Saturday Night Live, in which they play out a cold open which is ended by "Live from New York IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT".
Might be finding things where there are none but it's a thought. -
In this video the devil's key (an important artefact) was stolen by none over then Brendon! Whilst waiting for his fake girlfriend a group of baddies try to steal it but Brendon ain't having none of it he kills them one by one with the help of god, or as he says- say amen. The lyric "mama can I get another amen" is Brendon feeling blessed for each killing. Something he couldn't do alone. After each death he asks for his life when the next robber comes. When the robbers rest in pieces brendons girlfriend come and they start getting on with it. After stripping his blazer and shirt,a t-shirt is resting the devil's key on his neck. The girl gets jealous and kicks his balls. Brendon, like most men, crumble in pain as he screams a high note. To make sure he's a goner, his girl bats him with a bag and ripe the key off his neck. Brendon is left unconscious but always comes back for the next song! In this case, he walks up a building after this. (High hopes)

I know everyone has already said this bu the guy is really stressed, and is worrying about the past (hence if I had one more day to wish, if I had one more day to be better but baby oh its saturday night yeah) then the wekend comes and he forgets all his stress (but baby oh its saturday night yeah)
(sorry if I got anything wrong lyrical and speling wise) -
I think that this guy is just stressing about stuff, and he needs to just chill with his guys, but his dudes aren't the same to hang around as before, as they're even more stressed. I know about his, as I just started college lol :P
-
man, overstressed by work, wants to just chill on the weekend (Oh, its saturday night), hopes that others along with him will "pray for the wicked" the wicked being the boss he has at work that stresses him. its not anything dark, its just a note to say "hey, y'all. the weekend is for relaxing. dont carry over ur worries from school or work, and if your boss or lecturer is wicked or is out to get them, pray they work out there feelings."
but what say do i have im a hippie -
well it's actually say amen, this is gospel, then emperor's new clothes. she kills him and takes the devils key, he's dying? and then he becomes the devil himself
-
Well im first here woopdedoo. So this has been figured out, but i offer a third perspective. It goes say amen this is gospel then the ballad of mona lisa. My reasoning is well girl kills husband guy goes to hell repents and becomes a spirt and tells the girl about the note in the pocket look what a halfassed theory.
