Panic! At The Disco: The Calendar Meaning
The Calendar Lyrics
(Only for you)
You said if you don't let it out
You're gonna let it eat you away
I'd rather be a cannibal, baby
Animals like me don't talk anyway
Feel like an ambulance
Chaser of faith,
Pray I could replace her...

#1 top rated interpretation:This son is basically about the breakup in 2009, when Ryan and Jon left the band.
"Put another ex on the calendar" is referring to ex band members, and many people often seem to mistake the 'ex' for an actual 'x,' but I guess it could go both ways. "Summer's on it's deathbed; there is simply nothing worse than knowing how it ends.." is just saying that since the band broke up during the beginning of summer, it probably ruined a lot of Panic! At the Disco's fan's summers; they would be 'dead,' so to speak. That, or ever since the split, that summer was never the same for Brendon, Spencer, Ryan, and Jon. "There is simply nothing worse than knowing how it ends" is just saying that the band was most likely expecting this sooner or later, I believe, considering AFYCSO was so different than P.O.
"I will come back to life, but only for you..." is Brendon saying that the band will become just as good as it did when Ryan and Jon were still in the band - 'come back to life' - but needs his fans there to support him and help him when times are tough.
"You said if you don't let it out, you're gonna let it eat you away..." I think describes the moment when the band all sat down and discussed the breakup. That Brendon could see that it was killing Ryan to let him know what was on his mind; their 'musical differences.'
"I'll sleep in the hive, I guess all the buzzing got to me..." means that Brendon got tired of hearing all the 'buzz' about the breakup; he's just tired and needs time to think about everything.
"At night, your body is a symphony, and I'm conducting..." I have no idea what this means. Maybe there's a whole other story line I'm overlooking? It might mean that Brendon's comparing something/someone to a symphony, and that'll give him inspiration to write an album. I'm honestly not sure.
"Pray I could replace her, forget the way her tears taste..." Brendon hopes that he can find an easy replacement for Ryan and Jon, even though it will never be the same. Tears are referring to how sad the mood was during the breakup. Although nobody cried, it was a horribly depressing moment.
"And I meant everything I said that night..." the lyric before "I will come back to life..." I myself picture Brendon and Spencer talking about what they're gonna do now that the band broke up.
"Dont wanna call it a second chance, but when I came back, it was more of a relapse...." Brendon was set in a daze/shock by the split, and when he finally snaps out of it, he describes it as a 'relapse.'
"Anticipation's on the other line, and obsession called while you were out..." anticipation meaning eager to crank out a new album, maybe? Showing that there's a fine line between anticipation to get something done and an obsession with it... I'm not entirely sure.
I'm sorry of this was hard to follow, everything was just sort of thrown together in my mind. -

He's talking about when they were still together, Brendon had many ideas for their songs but very few of them were used or didn't gave them away because the one leading the band musically was Ryan.
"Feel like an ambulance
Chase her away
Pray I could replace her
Forget the way her tears taste
Oh, the way her tears taste"
After the split, Brendon had to take the rains on lyrics and songs. He was hoping he could write songs as good as Ryan's
The chorus he basically says that he feels very depressed by the split and at the same time he was very nervous because it was just him and Spencer.
"I will come back to life, but only for you"
I think he is talking to his fans, they will "come alive" keep writing songs not to let his fans down. -
This song could be interpreted on many different ways. This could be tied in with Ryan and Jon’s departure, but also seems like Brendon could be talking about a previous breakup that he had, or, which the line ‘at night your body is a symphony’ he could be talking about how things might’ve been going with Sarah.
-
I think it's looking at the life of a man, and his disappointments, as well as his good times.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about Ryan and Jon leaving the band. You can tell from the chorus "put another x on the calendar, summers on its deathbed." Brendon and Spencer are talking about the fact that not only did the band break up during the summer, but they're saying 'add another ex-band member to the tally'; sort of counting them up and hoping that's it.
-
In an interview, Brendon mentions how when they were writing the song, it was about a couple. But, eventually they realized how it tied in with Ryan and Jon leaving the band.
-
The calendar is basically about Ryan and Jon leaving the band. In the chorus they talk about the summer which basically means them leaving in July 2009. they're saying that they will still remain friends and hopefully work with them again.
