Papa Roach: Forever Meaning
Forever Lyrics
Of my darkest day
I realized
What is wrong with me
Can't get over you
Can't get through to you
It's been a helter-skelter, romance from the start
Take these memories
That are haunting me
Of a paper man cut into...

#1 top rated interpretation:This song is overall about a relationship that he didn't want to end.
The chorus:
"Because days! Come and go!
But my feelings for you are forever
Because days come and go
But my feelings for you are forever
One last kiss...
Before I go...
Dry your tears...
It is time to let you go..." indicates that he has already lost his love in this relationship and is ready to begin getting over her but wants "one last kiss"
However I feel it digs deeper
The lyrics "Take these memories
That are haunting me
Of a paper man cut into shreds
By his own pair of scissors" Show resentment to himself. Basically it implies that he could have stayed with her and been happy, but ( and this is just my opinion) either neglected the relationship or pushed her away, basically cutting his "paper self" to shreds when he realized that HE was the one that drove the relationship away.
Furthermore he goes into the many typical stages of heartbreak: Replacement, Numbing, etc. This is demonstrated in the lyrics:
"Sitting by the fire
On a lonely night
Hanging over from another good time
With another girl...
Little dirty girl
You should listen to this story of her life
You're my heroin-
In this moment I'm lonely
fulfilling my darkest dreams
All these drugs, all these women
I'm never forgiving...
this broken heart of mine"
But really what makes this song so fascinating is that it isn't a linear story and you have to find your way along to piece it together.
It is a great piece and I hope for more passionate and powerful music from Papa roach. -

#2 top rated interpretation:My personal feelings are that the songs refer to a love/hate relationship that an addict has with his addiction. I have a parent who has had an addiction problem for over 5 years. This song just seems to fit.
The addict LOVES the feelings that the drug can bring, however, when it's done with; in a sober moment (In the brightest hour of my darkest day, I realized what was wrong with me) you realize what you have done. That this is not the best time for you. (It's been a helter-sketler romance from the start).
You remember the past uses and what it has caused (Take these memories, That are haunting me). What you have done to yourself (Of a paper man cut into shreds, By his own pair of scissors).
You decide to leave it behind, but not before you get one "last kiss" (one last use).
One last kiss...
Before I go...
Dry your tears...
It is time to let you go...
But, you can't leave it behind....it sucks you back in.
One Last Kiss..... -

#3 top rated interpretation:It's about an ex
one that you loved dearly
and that even though it was a failed relationship
he will always love her inside his/her heart
"little dirty girl"...."all these drugs all these women"
is probably what he did to try to get over the ex (be it drugs, alcohol, other girls)
the girls is probably messing the relationship up and the guy is trying to help her but it is no longer working and his patience has run out so with
"one last kiss"
he knows he has to let her go -
"It's been a helter-skelter, romance from the start"
This is the line that really makes me like the song and redeems Papa Roach for me.
Charles Manson describes Helter-Skelter as the last battle between black and white. Now, Manson is referring to a racial war, but I like to think of "black and white" in the sense of this line as an internal battle, or conflict, maybe with right and wrong or whats clear vs whats not clear (feel free to relate how you wish). I think it beautifully compliments the first line, "In the brightest hour, Of my darkest day" and I'm super jealous that I didn't think of it.
I doubt that was the intent of the writer, but it gives me personally a great mental picture, and a lot to think about when it plays along with the perfect music. And to me, thats what makes a great song.
Hope that gives the song more meaning to you. -

The song is about a failed relationship, but neither of them wants to admit it because they love each other despite the fact that it's not working. They both feel that because their feelings stay strong after every fight there's still hope for them. But ultimately the relationships ends and they're heartbroken.

This song could be perceived in many ways. It could be about a love/hate relationship. It could be about a relationship that fell apart because someone died. It could even be about drug or alcohol addiction. In any way its mainly about a relationship that wasnt healthy but the person couldn't or wasn't ready to let go.

Honestly I apply to this song. I've gone through it and everything so I know how to explain. It's about a girl who does many things wrong and he can't get through to her and tell her what she's leaving behind if she goes. but no matter how many times she leaves or messes he's always going to love her.
feeling just don't go away... That's the message of the song -
