Pearl Jam: Immortality Meaning
Song Released: 1995
Immortality Lyrics
Vengeance has no place on me or her
Cannot find the comfort in this world
Artificial tear
Vessel stabbed, next up, volunteers?
Vulnerable
Wisdom can't adhere
A truant finds home
And a wish to hold on
But there's a...

Also, they would tattoo the numbers on the forearm in WW11. When Eddie says about the auctioned forearm. This song is about War.
-
To me, this song lyrics seem to be about war and soldiers. The truants and volunteers, surrendered executed anyhow, some die just to live.

Many listeners believed that this song is about the life and death of fellow Seattle grunge rocker Kurt Cobain. There are several lines that could refer to drug usage in the song. For instance, "artificial tear" could symbolize substances dripping from a syringe. Also there is a mention of a "cigar box on the floor," and a cigar box was found next to Cobain's body.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times published November 20, 1994, Eddie Vedder addressed the song, explaining that it was about his state of mind, and that the cigar box was simply where he kept his tapes. Asked if the song was about Cobain, Vedder replied: "No, that was written when we were on tour in Atlanta. It's not about Kurt. Nothing on the album was written directly about Kurt, and I don't feel like talking about him, because it [might be seen] as exploitation. But I think there might be some things in the lyrics that you could read into and maybe will answer some questions or help you understand the pressures on someone who is on a parallel train." -
It's about suicide and becoming immortal through suicide it was son to Kurt after his death bedded just didn't say it Bc he didn't wanna make money off Kurt's death
-
I think that the song originates from a sad heart because, from it comes intense feelings of love beyond life, the love is too strong to die when he\she dies.it goes on to the spiritual world.

This is a sad complaining love song...the language and the choice of words is great,,so,vacatye is the word is about that his girl or the' girl he loves is taking another(s)but his begins brought him no words filled with emotion or the love he wants from her,so her words are vacate,,then, vengeance has no place on me or her in investigation language shows first what i have suggested about the story and that this man is not black souled or rancorous about her choices,,then, vengeance in love cases come from cheating..etc or in his case where not a cheat shows really it is about aman who loves a girl but she took another so that they have no reason to get avenged,,as well as the writer is not injecting such illegal feelings oif vengeance neither willingly or not, therefore a very legal secure song to hear even by teens...i love immortality,,then, when he says cannot find comfort in this woprtld,,it is a pure right linguistic mental and psychical reaction of strong long loneliness and this is said in the case where someone suffers from long loneliness and sentimental and emotional hunger,,but this writer gave it in a song instead of suiciding which also a great positive song still and again...artificial tears due to the fact her tears are not what he wants ,so,since they are not for regret and coming back to him,so they are artificial since not what he wants...vessel stabbed next up volunteers means wow hahahaha,,,i am shy these days, but great and positive since to complain about the love in his vessels and veins which the new lovers walked on like stabbing a cigarette...sad!!!... vulnerable wisdom can't adhere means he's under zero degree of sadness and this is like a report of the feelings and thoughts in such situations....a truant finds home,,,so he used to leave his duties like school or work for her,but now he got home in the sun,,a christian hint or little value..i gotta go..bye
