Just Give Me a Reason Lyrics
You were a thief
You stole my heart
And I your willing victim
I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty
And with every touch you fixed them
Now you've been talking in your sleep oh-oh
Things you've...

#1 top rated interpretation:I think it means that there will come a time that you'll fall out of love in the relationship, like here, the other person thinks they should let their love go because of it, but the second person thinks that if there's still love even a bit of it, (we're collecting dust but our love's enough) they can still regain what they had lost, because their love is worth it, after all they have been through. its worth the try. because it was true. the love's just hidden and forgotten because of everything that has been happening, their mind has ruled over their heart. but the other person's willing to fix it, bring it back from rust to new. they are not broken, their love's just bent, it can come back again, you can fall in love again with the same person all over again.
I can fully relate to this song, it gave me hope with my relationship. I've been with my girlfriend for almost 6 years now. and we had a very beautiful relationship now that I see it, I've forgotten yes, I almost gave up. but now I know I should fight for it. because there's still hope, and love, we're not broken, just bent. -

#2 top rated interpretation:i think its about two people stuck in a rut she says she sees subtle messages that he is not interested anymore and wants a reassurance to continue what appears to be a dying relationship he however says its all good still they just settled but the love is still there and if she needs reassurance that the love is there he will do whatever it takes to convince her

#3 top rated interpretation:I love this song... What I think. They're out the honeymoon phase and are at when everything gets confusing and weird. When you dont have to talk to them 1000x a day anymore. It's about dealing with a changing relationship.
They met and he immediately won her over. Their relationship was not only romantic love(sex) but he was her friend as well. Hes the total package. (every touch you fixed them) Even though he "fixed"her, She still has "issues" she doesn't totally trust the relationship is solid. She's scared, spazzing out, and over thinking everything. Shes trying to get him to admit his feelings has changed because they've been through hell and back."scars on their hearts" Their relationship isn't perfect. But she "feels" something is wrong."he's been talking in his sleep"
He doesn't know what she's talking about. He loves her and thinks everything's going good.
She's thinking about the honeymoon phase when they were inseparable.
(we had everything)
He knows she's insecure and try's to
reassure her. (your head is going wild AGAIN) He's telling her, her insecurities are pushing them apart. Its in her head. He's telling her he never stopped loveing her and the passion is still there. ( nothing between us but empty sheets)He's trying to tell her he loves her on every level. they sing our love twice one low tone th other screaming "
She's been hurt in the past and the relationship is changing ,she feels like she's doing something wrong. (tear ducts and rust) He's telling her he's going to be ther no matter what.
(I'll fix it for us)
He finally gets through to her that it's ok for a relationship to change cause their growing together. Even though men and women( or people) think different you make it work when your in love with someone. -
I know the meaning of this song because it exactly happened to me. My former partner fell in love with me at the time i needed some escape or savior from the rut I was in. I had with me too much baggage and with him as my knight and shining armor, he helped me solve them one by one. Like a child who needed a parent. Like an addict who needed a counselor. A problem that always needed a fix. Instead of becoming a better person, I became insecure, with low self-esteem and lack of confidence and i even thought i wasn't worthy of anyone. My partner didn't understand because he thought he was loving me by helping me change.
It was when we finally broke up wherein i found myself again. When i felt complete on my own, I was given another chance at love and now I am married with my lifetime partner who accepts and loves me for I truly am. -
I think this song is about lost love and the relationship would to be more loving family, because we’ve been a relationship with Jesus. Nathan does make things right, because we’ve even the best part.
-
I believe the girl is still into the guy and she believes and hopes that they get back together but to the guy it's all in the past all the love and fantasies she dreams about are all in her head and there'll never be anything like the two of them
-
I read the others, and I don't see it that way at all, perhaps because I lived something like it for many years.
I think the woman became schizophrenic over time. She has started hearing things that lead her to believe the love is over.
The guy has no idea where this is coming from, except he slowly realizes it's in her head, and he tries to reassure her that there isn't anything really wrong, and he wants to help fix it.
They go round and round, but if she never accepts what he is saying, it won't end well, very likely. -
"Right from the start you were a thief you stole my heart" love these words he stole her heart. No one ever has before!
-
Still love hearing this song on the radio. They are at a phase in their relationship where they question their feelings for the other. The woman needs some reassurance he feels the same. The guy is basically saying hey my feelings haven't changed don't start acting different.
-
Love. So get over your issues and insecurities.
-
I think the man is cheating. He is talking in his sleep and she is figuring it out. She doesn't want to believe it, but it is weighing on her mind. He is either cheating physically with someone or emotionally, I don't think it really matters which one. She is feeling neglected and alone and just wants conformation of her fears.
-
A victim of his or hers love, however you interpret it whats not to get. To me the person singing this line doesn't fall in love easily but did this time.
-
What is meant by willing victim?
And I your willing victim -
They are in love but their communication isn't the same there is some confusion as to how the other feels. They start to doubt their love because of it. They need to "come clean". To clear the air and be happy together again. Its really a beautiful song.
-
i think this is about a girl who doesnt want to be together with a guy anymore but the guy is holding on to their relationship.
-
The opening of the song, "you were a thief" and "I was your willing victim" suggests that the male is a sociopath that seduced the female with his mask of charm and charisma. Once the female begins to realize his web of lies, the male will not talk or open up but simply denies everything and counters with even more deceit.
-
"we're collecting dust but our loves enough",I hope. "We'll come clean", I hope. Because I love you.
-
The song is about a relationship that is failing, but the two in it want the it to be better. They are trying to find a reason or something that should keep them together. Something that is important enough for them to go through the hurdles of love and keep going.
