Keep Yourself Alive Lyrics

I was told a million times
Of all the troubles in my way
Tried to grow a little wiser
Little better ev'ry day
But if I crossed a million rivers
And I rode a million miles
Then I'd still be where I started
Bread and butter for a smile
Well...

Great inspirational tune for those trying to achieve dreams that the world tells them are not possible. He was "told a million times of all the troubles" in his way of achieving his goals. So, he "tried to grow a little wiser" in the meantime, but always found himself "back where he started" - being a mere nothing in public eyes. He "sold" himself to others, but knew it was not his true self. So, if you are one trying to do the same, just be satisfied with who you are, no matter what your upbringing thinks you should be. In this game of life no one gets out alive, so stay true to your core self and keep going the route you are. It will take alot more effort than you imagine to go what you may consider the easy route. In the end you'll be glad you stuck with what your heart wants; because, after all his experience he can honestly say, no one elses' opinion matters but your own. "Honey you'll survive" no matter what what your choice or the circumstances, it's just a question of how happy you will be. Keep your true core self alive, because we are all just "two steps nearer to our grave". If you choose the route to keep others satisfied, it will take every bit of energy on your part. If you choose the route to keep yourself satified, it will take every speck of energy still, but at least in your heart, you'll be satisfied!
