Too Much Love Will Kill You Lyrics
Too many bitter tears are raining down on me
I'm far away from home
And I've been facing this alone
For much too long
Oh, I feel like no-one ever told the truth to me
About growing up and what a...

#1 top rated interpretation:Brian May wrote it, and at the time if writing he was going through a very tough time in his life. Freddie's health was getting worse rapidly towards the point of his death, Brian was dealing with a failing marraige with his children's mother, eventually leading to a divorce, and Brian's father died. All if these things happened in the space of about 2 years of each other and almost led to suicide and therefore I'm guessing that this song is about his struggle and not being able to deal with life anymore. Although it can also have the meaning if Freddie dying from AIDS, he didn't write the song and the song was actually recorded in the late 80s which is later than a lot of people think. So although he had been diagnosed at that point, this message can only really be given across when you hear Freddie sing it. There is a version with Brian May singing it (I have the album -back to the light- :P) and although I love Freddie dearly I do prefer Brian's version. I think you can hear the emotion and struggle more in his voice. Also in the live version @ Freddie's tribute concert you can hear the Brian is about to cry. I feel really sorry for him, because I think we all know that life's not a bed of roses, and I haven't had it easy either but I think his work gives a lot of people hope :D

#2 top rated interpretation:A married man has an affair, falls in love
with his mistress, but the guilt he feels
his really painful. He loves and cares for his wife and children, But the mistress makes him really happy. It's impossible
for him to make a decision, Everyone suffers, everyone is miserable because of his inability to choose. How will this end?
I think we all know. -
Out of his mouth, he & Anita met & became best friends & for a long while. During this his marriage was on the rocks then there's the children, no parent wants their children to go thru seperation/divorce & will stay together "for the kids". So I agree with Brian...if it was me, marriage turn bad, & what's her side of the story? One can only take so much of a failing relationship/marriage for so long, I too would of done the same. His marriage already failing & just so happened to meet a lady..AS friends...what do you expect when two people become best of friends? I'd take the best friend if my relationship had gone bitter or just baddie left my husband bc he simply would not listen...to stop being so mean to the kids...he became abusive to our 2 kids 3 ys after the divorce & allowed, or just never mentioned a thing to his girlfriend as she was emotionally abusive to our kids. Fuck ya im leaving his ass, I couldn't take more. I relate to this song as I interprete in to my life, every word rings true for me, how my life has been. At a time when I was unstable on psych meds, I sat on railroad tracks listening to this song screaming & crying as my life sucked here & there. All battling everything. I too still look back to find where I went wrong

I think it's about Freddie dying of Aids. Too much love will kill you (Freddie's lifestyle), and because of it, he will leave millions of people behind who love him because there is no cure and he will die. Even if that is incorrect, it is an AWESOME song, Freddie sings it BEAUTIFULLY, and although it's a sad song, I love it!! I think it can fit alot of people's lives but what a dream to be able to hear Freddie sing it like he does!! RIP FREDDIE.... WE LOVE U!❤⭐

Be true to yourself & to your love one.

The singer loved two girls at the same time. He betrayed and was unfaithful with his wife. He also loved another girl. His love for them made him mentally and emotionally damaged.
Lesson on this story. You should be loyal to your girl/wife and not add another one to fill up your desires mentally, physically, and emotionally. If one gets married he should be happy with his wife and not be happy with another girl. That's it.

At first I thought it was about Freddy and what he was going through. When I heard about what Brian was going through I can also see the connection. Whatever situation it is about, it is an awesome song and as usual, Freddy sings it outstanding!

Imagine a married man with three kids.
Have an affair with a mistress. She's his true love. Hard to leave his wife and kids, and that's almost impossible.
The mistress loves him too. So the man has to choose between his present wife and his lover, hence the phrase "torn between the lover and the love you leave behind".
At the end, his mistress left him, a devastating ending for him. He keep remembering her for all of his life, even after his mistress married with someone else.
Remember, too much love will kill you.

I always thought the song was about aids.
