When this very early Queen song was made the band was sharpening its tools and producing music which was technically outstanding. In Son & Daughter Queen are showing us that they can create music in the style of Led Zeppelin BETTER THAN Led Zeppelin!
The lyrics are all to do with being dissatisfied with gender and sexuality. The idea being put across is that men have a raw deal, hence the phrase, "The world expects a man, to buckle down and shovel shit".
