Bless The Broken Road Lyrics
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
[Chorus:]

I can relate to this song because I moved from WVA to GA with my boyfriend where he lived, hoping to find true love. I remember a few days before I left, I heard this preacher on the radio saying, "If you are looking for love in man you are looking in the wrong place... Look to Jesus" When I look back I can see how every sign was leading me back to Jesus. My heart was broken by this man. I worked so hard at trying to find love in this man and others men too each time I was lead back to Jesus. It took 15 years on that broken road but I'm free. He truly Blessed the Broken road in my life and lead me straight to Him.

I think this song is about a guy who had a rough life, and finally found the girl who loves him. We've all been down that road. The broken people will eventually find their way through. The girl saved him. This song gets me choked up every time.
-
Im sorry, but whoever interpreted this first is stupid. This song is not talking about a literal "broken road". Its talking about life, he went through pain and heartbreak. And in the end he realized it all lead to this one girl. God had a purpose for all the heartbreak.
-
Have you tried to interpret this song as a reference to the parable of the Prodigal Son?
It's obvious to me. We leave home and travel the broken road and God still waits for us. Every long lost dream acts as a northern star and points us back on the road home, into our Father's arms.
Beautiful. -
It is not surprising to connect this song to a romantic relationship. It may be dedicated to a person specially made for you - destiny in some other terms. Some of us tend to spend most of our lifespan looking forward to meet someone who will complete us. We look everywhere, ask for signs, give our all only to see ourselves dried up and empty. Every long lost dream led me to where you are... God allows circumstances to go along your way, making your heart broken that's why you are in pain. As you encounter these heartaches, you will meet the healer, Jesus. Remember that only Jesus can fill our emptiness. If we are not filled with His love, we cannot give love to others. If we are not secured in His love, we cannot entrust our hearts to others. Let us not weary ourselves trying to look for someone to love because it has been set even before you were conceived. You and your partner in life is a work in progress, and when the two of you are complete, God will allow the two of you to meet and live a life that will honor Christ. If you want to meet the right person, ask God to straighten your road, to make your road whole, complete. God bless you!

so i would have to say most of the people that posted are right and some arewron.
ihave found some one that i love with all my heart and i think she could be the one but she needs to see that i am the one to. -
The song indeed is deep but only from my perspective: I believe the song is speaking about predestination and being able to manage the struggles that have happened "...along the broken road".I believe this song has something along the lines to do with "religion" (obviously) as the main theme. Lets just think of this song as the singer telling his story;
"I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you"
-I believe this means he went looking for love but ends up getting hurt in the process (broken road). "...I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you."
During this process he was ignorant to the fact that God was showing him where to go "...Every long lost dream led me to where you are. Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars pointing me on my way into your loving arms..."
He realizes this which is why he says "This much I know is true that God blessed the broken road
that led me straight to you"-God has been trying to guide him but he didn't see the signs (for whatever reason).
What I question about this song is up for debate-but what is the reason for the people he describes as,who have hurt him, being like norther stars-pointing him straight to one specific person? If this is how he truly sees his experience-then I wonder could this suggest that all of what we go through premeditated by God? Essentially what I mean is fate. What we see as-unfair or not right-is only God's will. So I feel that this quote,"...Every long lost dream led me to where you are. Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars pointing me on my way into your loving arms..."-suggests this idea of how God influences our lives-and that is through signs. Which then means that at one point, we all will reach what God has planned for us(for better or for worst). -
I think this song has a very deep meaning to it. Then again, any song can be turned around and interpreted different in anyone's eyes.
To me this song is saying the God had one specific plan for him. All of his past relationships and heartache has lead him to that one special someone. He's thankful that he has finally found that someone and is finally happy with who is with and who he is on a personal level. -
He has met someone that he felt was very special but he was unsure and broke it off. After time and different experiences she was the one. At that point he comes back to her and she is waiting with open arms.

OK that person above me better have not been serious!! They are an awesome band.
My favorite actually.
OK had to get it out there, but what I think is that the broken road is really his life's journey. He has been through some relationships that didn't work out well, but all they were doing was getting him ready for his true love.
"Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms"
He is also say that basically everything that happened was worth it because know he has his "true love"
So yea, that's my little interpretation=] -
If he was related to that ugly goober from Rascal Flatts, he would know that the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band wrote this song over ten years ago!
-
I don't think this is about some weird incident, and I have some doubts the first poster is related to anyone in the band. This song is pretty obvious: the guy's had a rough life, but since he found the love of his life, he's good with that. I doubt this song has anything to do with a real road.
-
I think the broken road is the past relationships and finally he was led to the one.
-
I see this song as, he has lost many people that he has loved/ thought he loved, which is the broken road. But I see that he has found his true love as a result of all his loses. Saying that althought the broken road is difficult god has blessed it so at the end you will be rewarded/
-
That certainly is an interesting interpretation, and it may very well be true, but looking at it from the lay man perspective I get a totally different meaning.
To me the song is a person thanking the lord for all the mistakes and people in his past who, while they may have hurt him, have made him who he is. It is probably because of who he is that he ends up meeting the love of his life.
Just what the song seems to keep repeating meaning wise to me...
