Relient K: Marilyn Manson Ate My Girlfriend Meaning
Marilyn Manson Ate My Girlfriend Lyrics
Go up to her and say you're a believer.
Disgusting trash on MTV it makes her smile.
That guy from Satan's embassy put him on trial.
Because... Marilyn Manson ate my girlfriend.
Satan consumed...
-
I'm assuming the singer is complaining about his girlfriend going goth
-
OK, so basically let's lyric it out:
-Walk through the streets of PA and you may see her.-
They're walking down Pennsylvania, and they
see her (My girlfriend)
-Go up to her and say you're a believer.-
Go up to My girlfriend and basically say you believe in god
-Disgusting trash on MTV it makes her smile.-
The only things that make My girlfriend laugh is all that nasty things on MTV,(bad things make her laugh)
-That guy from Satan's embassy put him on trial. Because... Marilyn Manson ate my girlfriend.-
I'm not that sure about these lines, and I think by Marilyn Manson they mean 'Satan' but they're not saying Marilyn Manson is Satan
-Satan consumed her mind, and he may do it again.-
What they mean is that she became bad.
-She once believed in the truth, now she believes in sin.-
She used to be good, but now she's bad after 'Satan consumed her mind'
-She denies God when she has the chance to live for him.-
She doesn't believe in God, and doesn't serve or live for him, instead she believes in Satan
-The thought of it makes me cringe.-
This line means that the singer is simply unhappy about it
-Her future looks dim.-
This is a literal line, her future doesn't look that bright anymore
-She'd rather gaze in Satan's eyes than on a steeple.-
What they mean by steeple is Church, so she'd rather be thinking about bad things than going to church, doing good things, not committing sins, and praying
-I'm really starting to despise beautiful people.-
My girlfriend must have been pretty, but because she did bad the singer is backing away from her
~So basically this song is about My girlfriend, and how she used to be good and just but then Marilyn Manson (Satan) "ate" , or changed her mind and made her bad
