Just about a dude from a woman’s perspective. Good looking rich kid who has the charm and women compete over him. He has many options and this young lady connects with him and she just gets tired of waiting for time with him. He isn’t ready to commit but may not be worth discarding completely. Friendship first. Play the long game. Does Cronin think he’s this guy? Would be great to hear from him about this song. Great tune!

Ok, so the young man in our story is single and has a job (plenty of cash and friends). More appropriately: “Stud” is replaced with “Dude” by the writer. You “pout” when you can’t get your way: he’s frustrated. He has some growing up to do. Women mature faster than men; but he is what she “dreams about” (i.e. someone who has eyes only for her).
“But don’t let him go. Just give him a chance to grow. Take it easy take it slow…” He is procrastinating (most likely for fear: it can be a scary thing when you like someone who actually likes you right back for the first time); and needs time to find his way.
He makes you feel so angry…and…sore.” She is angry because he doesn’t trust her; and may even be feeling some peer pressure.
“The weight may be worth it (he may have a good reason for his shyness)
But how can you wait anymore? When you’re wondering what you’re waiting for.” (she’s afraid too, so don’t think of yourself so much and take her to a movie). That’s my take on it. I’ve been wrong before.
