REO Speedwagon: Keep On Loving You Meaning
Song Released: 1980
Keep On Loving You Lyrics
There was somethin' missin'
You should've known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn't listen
You played dead but you never bled
Instead you lay still in the grass
All coiled up and...

"You played dead, but you never bled
Instead you laid in the grass all coiled up and hissin" is that a sexual reference? Like she lied about her virginity? -
This song was well explained by recent interpretation. Heard this song before but I saw the video tonight. It was sort of an inappropriate setting for the lady with the band members. But the singer with the psychiatrist, amusing. Saw his facial expressions and he is singing it to her.
The first interpretation explained it too. However, in real life the singer didn't end up with the girl since he married someone else.
Seems this is your frequent place since this site started. -
This song is specifically about Kevin Cronin's woman at the time he wrote it. I know there is a video out there that suggests different but in an interview he has said this song was specifically about her and was the inspiration for the song. She was cheating on him while he was away but he decides in the end that he doesn't want the relationship to end so he is going to keep on loving her. It's actually that simple. There is a YouTube video where they sing this song on the midnight special back in 1980. If you look at Kevin's facial expressions when singing it, especially early on in the song, you almost get the feeling he is singing it to her. It was in 1980 when the song was written so its possible.

This is about unconditional love and forgiveness. This woman cheated on this man, breaking his heart. Yet, he still loves her and wants to be with her.
