   I love this song so much. And I always thought it was very sweet and romantic. But doesn’t this song sound a bit like a potential fatal attraction? “Latching” onto someone or “shackling” them sounds like a possibility jealous or definitely possessive person in a relationship. I know Sam Smith has it in him to write a love song with dark undertones. Is it just me that hears that?

   Latch is a very sweet and romantic song. I don't agree with you. Read the lyrics of the song, it's about two people and the one singing the song is really love with him or her. Perhaps they were in a date or they had spent some time together. The one singing the song doesn't want to end his or her time with the one they are with.
