I think this is Sting's personal experiences going through his divorce with his first wife Frances. Now, after so many years has passed, he finally can look at his scar and hurt he has caused to her. He is trying to come to the senses and dealing with his guilts and, finally admitting to himself that he truly loved her.

Girl has died. The singer is in court for a long time being tried for murder. Singer in a way killed her because he did not love her so she commited suicide and the singer then figures out that he actually loved her. Mabye because of a ghost haunting him.
