Stone Temple Pilots: Creep (Half the Man I Used to Be) Meaning
Song Released: 1994
Creep (Half the Man I Used to Be) Lyrics
Makes me wanna stay
What they said was real
Makes me wanna steal
Livin' under house
Guess I'm livin', I'm a mouse
All's I gots is time
Got no meaning, just a rhyme
Take time with a wounded hand
'Cause it likes to...

This song is not about his drug addiction. Scott didn't begin using heroin until after Core was released.

My former high school lit teacher said that she attended high school with Scott Weiland (I believe at Edison High in HB) and that her hallway locker was adjacent to his. As the story goes, one day she overheard Weiland's girlfriend call him a creep while breaking up with. Hence, the title of the song and the lyric, "then she tells me I'm a creep". If true, quite lame.

I think that this song is about a recovering Kleptomaniac. It would kind of make sense. He has nothing left, he needs to heal the hands that have been dirtied by his compulsive obsession. He is half the man he used to be because he lost something that was a big part of his life that he can no longer do. No longer wants to do.

ACTUALLY... This song is about a man getting cut in half in a logging accident.
-
Is it not about Bobby Jones? I was told by Bob himself that it was. Wounded hand - left hand almost shot off.
-
It is obviously a song about John Wayne Bobbitt. "Half the man I used to be" [snip, snip]
-
"Actually it is called half the man I used to be.
And I also downloaded it with the mistaken title of Nirvana, it does sound a lot like kurt..I thought that till my sister told me lol"
if you know they got the artist wrong (STP not nirvana, and it sounds nothing like cobain, he's way grittier and raspier than Scott Weiland) why the hell are you so virulently defending the wrong title? -
it is definitely "creep". anyone living in the early 90's who is slightly familiar with the genre would know this. It is by stone temple pilots.it is not "half the man I used to be", it is called "creep". It is the 7th track from their album "core" which was released September 29, 1992

The song is called "creep"!!! It's pretty self explainitory, he thinks of himself as a creep.
-
It's definitely creep. It's off of their core album, which I have right in front of me.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
-
About a depressed guy, who is basically a loner or creep, and the song's called Creep, not half the man I used to be.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
