Seasons in the Sun Lyrics
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the...

Someone knowing that the end is near.Saying goodbye to the people that he loved.
-
it is a good song it is not a suicide letter it is about his best friend and about who he loved before he died even though he did not die because he is 72 and he lives in Canada
-
I learned a while ago that this song was to represent a boy (young man) who was going off to Vietnam. Not a suicide note or a man in prison. It was to say good-bye to those who meant something to him throughout life because he knew he was going off to die.

I know the Jacques Brel song. It is a list of his grievances against the people mentioned. It has nothing like the meaning Terry Jacks gives it. Look it up.
-
Definitely reminiscing about the good times.

When I 1st heard this song I thought it was about a man in a death row prison cell but later interpreted it to be about a terminally ill person. ♣

I think it's a great song. I used to listen to it over and over on a 45 when I was a little kid. Although I did not understand what it meant I still loved it. But I don't think his friend was a dog a dog can't learn his abcs.( remember learn to love and abcs) I may be wrong. But it's just a song.
-
This a song about a man on death row reflecting on the highlights and low lights of his life his untracked dreams lost love and how he had disappointed his own father.

I had to take Our Dog Sheba to be put to Sleep due to ill health, She was 17 years old .. Getting into a taxi afterwards the driver put the radio on and This song had just started to play "Goodbye to You My Trusted Friend"... Meant the world to Me x

I remember this song from years back. On Monday we had our dog put down as she was riddled with mass cell tumors and for some strange reason 'Seasons in the sun' popped into my head. Been humming it ever since and somehow it's soothing this incredible heartbreak I'm going through.
-
I was about to cry to read the first one.
-
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

When this song came out, my 9year old cousin died, her name was Michelle and she was the black sheep in her family [onlygirl]. I always think of her.
-
its a suicide letter.
he talks about how the stars for which they reached were just starfish on the beach. the vanity of reaching out for dreams and goals. its almost as if he is mocking life and death -
A little part of everybody's life and memories..
