The Black Keys: Tighten Up Meaning
Tighten Up Lyrics
Most of all, most of all
Someone said true love was dead
And I'm bound to fall, bound to fall
For you
oh what can I do?
Take my badge but my heart remains
Lovin' you, baby child
Tighten up on your...

I think when he says "when I was young and moving fast, nothing slow me down"
I think he means like he cheated on someone and and that time when he did it he was young and unconscious of what he was doing as a young man would do with a not too much knowledge about hurting someone, and now he's might regret for it -
Alright, let the fairy work here.
This song is about someone he thought was right, but was a gold digger or a cheater or etc etc etc etc
He loved her, she cracked him up, and like Taylor Swift, he wrote a song about it.
"When I was young and moving fast nothin slowed me down, slowed me down; but now I let the others pass; 'cuz I've come around"
DUH: The girls, he doen't waste himself with them any more because he's learned and he's looking for someone good.
THE BLACK KEYS ARE NOT DOPEHEADS, and for the crackheads out there, A DOPEHEAD IS WHAT YOU ARE! -
I think this song is about wanting something but you cant have it because someone stole it from you and you hurt soo bad.
-
this song is about being whipped and having the biggest blue balls.
-
I think that it is possibly about a drug... at first he's "in love" with it but after a while he is left sick and aching.
-
I think it's about having a child. People don't realize how much they can love something until they have a kid.
It talks about living without a focus/purpose in life then suddenly a having a change in perspective, then slowing down, etc, all that happens when you have a kid.
"sick for days", and I'm aching now" could be pregnancy and giving birth. -
pretty sure its about a relationship... the blues is very often written over broken hearts. Definitely wouldn't be the only one on this album (Brothers).

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway
