The Killers: Just Another Girl Meaning
Song Released: 2013
Just Another Girl Lyrics
Step out into the Indian dust
I can feel the cracks in my spirit
They're starting to bust
Drive by your house
Nobody's home
I'm trying to tell myself that I'm better off alone
[Chorus]
All of my friends say I should move...
-
I have no idea what it is about.
First, it sounds like he is talking about an ex that he still longs for.
But then he talks about a child.
Is it his child?
His 'ex's child?
No idea.
Still...love the song. -
Brandon's deep love and inspiration for his song writing is his love of of his life, his wife Tana. The band members are bothered by this and want to be swinging rock stars with groupies. Brandon is deeply in love with Tana, the mother of his boys. The band members tell him that he could be reeling them in and chooses not to. They tell him that she's just another girl. His religion, Tana and his boys keeps him grounded. This is why I love his song writing and his passion revolving around his family. Brandon Flowers is the MAN!

His friends talk about his ex as if it is 'just another girl' but although he's trying to believe them, he knows that she's so much more than just another girl. In the video clip you see a girl who's dressed like Brandon Flowers in other songs from the killers. I think it means that the girl who he's singing about is like his second half. So his friends are trying to get him trough the break up but he finds it very hard to believe that he will ever get over this girl.

The Killers songs are so good because they usually depict a person's internal struggles.
This song is about a guy that is going through a breakup and his group of friends are trying to get him to get over her.
You can tell as the song goes on, the singer goes through from almost accepting the breakup ("I try to tell myself that I'm better off alone") and listening to his friends to having an internal struggle and saying that "Maybe all of my friends should confront the fact that I don't want another girl". Then towards the end of the song, he breaks down and says "...Then why can't I sleep at night..." and he's left with just heartbreak and his friends' words in his mind.
You can tell its already a breakup because in the middle of the song he says "I can't believe you're out there flying with somebody else". You can tell he's heartbroken because he mentions he "drive[s] by [her] house [and] nobody's home". -
He is in love with a girl, but something goes wrong in their relationship so the two split. His friends quote her as "just another girl" but the singe definitely sees her as more than that, having sleepless nights, seeing beautiful things distorted. His friends try to give him advice but none of it is appealing to him.
