Tokio Hotel: World Behind My Wall Meaning
World Behind My Wall Lyrics
The blinds are shut
It's always the same
I tried all the games that they play
But they made me insane
Life on TV
It's random, it means nothing to me
I'm writing down what I cannot see
Wanna wake up in a dream
Oh...

Actually Bill said his freedom tattoo had nothing to do with the wall, as he was born in 89 so only ever knew a united Germany. he said it was about turning 18 and being allowed do what he wanted. i think the song is more about hiding behind a self built mental wall, im not sure i can explain but its like a way of self protection, like keeping to yourself to avoid getting hurt. actually now i think of it, maybe thats why Bill has been single for so long. the background of the Berlin wall is also probably thought of and the history brought into this song.

i think the song is about the Wall in Berlin because Germany was split in 2 parts because there was a Wall.this wall were going through Berlin and split germany. they want to see the other side of the wall and everyone tells them that it is beautiful on the otherside but they were not allowed to move to the other side so they were wonder if they would ever see the world behind the wall and if you saw the the performance of this song on their live tour dvd (humanoid City) you will se a short film where bill says :
Too many lies.
Too many lifes.
Too much pain.
Too many chains.
Too many tears.
Too many fears.
Too much waste.
Too much hate.
Too many...Walls.
this song describes the life in the DDR ( one of the parts )And Bill,Tom, Georg and Gustav lived in the DDR. the DDR wasn't a good place to life and it was really hard and all that stuff my family comes also from the DDR and they moved 1989 to the other side. because 1989 the wall was destroyed and at this point you were allowed to go to the other side of the Wall. If you are a big Tokio Hotel fan you know that Bill has a Tattoo that says " Freiheit'89" (that means : "Freedom '89" this tattoo is for the destroyed wall. -
I think that this song means that no matter who you are on the outside, you're always something bigger (Or better) on the inside.
