Twenty One Pilots: Forest Meaning
Forest Lyrics
There's a stomach inside my brain
I don't wanna be heard
I want to be listened to
Does it bother anyone else
That someone else has your name?
Does it bother anyone else
That someone else has your name,...

I believe that this song means that, although our fear is all around us and the storm and uncertainty mentioned in the song are running rampant through our brains, hence the screaming, we are still together as the skeleton clique, and will get through it with hope, our “hands held higher”. I haven’t read the forest fic, so sorry about my ignorance, but in my mind, the Banditos sing this during bad storms or when they are otherwise in need of a morale boost, although this theory might just come from my headcanon that the Banditos use tøp songs as part of their resistance. In any case, I take this song to have a theme of unity and collective bravery, even when watching a beloved treehouse burn and when you’re not in control of yourself, and that the knowledge that at least there’s a “we” and that you’re not alone in your terror, which could be a source of hope.

i read the forest fic recently and you can see the connection from the story to the lyrics of the song. When tyler says "does it bother anyone else that someone else has your name?" its because he believes your name does not become unique if someone else shares it. In the story, he finally gives in to what people are saying about josh 'not being real and all being in his head' i think. in to which he later lights the tree house him and josh would hangout in to free his mind, but he lit it with josh and him inside, killing them both in the act.

when Tyler says "my tree house is on fire and for some reason i smell gas on my hands." is that because he tried to set the tree house on fire. or did he try to set the tree house on fire while he was in it and josh saved his or something? IDK but where he says "cause we're terrified of whats around the Corner." is that every one is scared of what comes next because nothing is planed.

so, i've read the forest fanfic, and i have been contemplating over it for a couple of days now, and i think its about the unheard voices of teens and children, how having "imaginary" friends like Tyler does (in the fic), you have a sense that no one cares about you or what you think - and it makes us angry, or melancholy, and many more feelings because we feel like our voices are just empty words, nothing important to listen to. and that sometimes makes us terrified, because we don't know what's in store for us, relating to "'cause we're terrified of what's around the corner".
-
The lyric "we don't wanna lose our lives so we stand is place" is saying how we all are so scared of how we-humanity-are afraid of taking chances and this group of kids aren't afraid but they face hardships-"I scream you scream cuz we're terrified of what's around the corner."-and they find a place in the forest and they live there and they all live life without fear while humanity is scared to join them. Those kids could be you, me, the man next door who gives you good or bad vibes. What he-Tyler-is saying is don't be afraid to take chances my dude. Go for it. Unless you're trying to drive backwards through a ring of fire w your eyes close for fun.
-
It's about how there's so many things that terrify us and how we need to escape to somewhere where we can forget all that and relax. For tøp that somewhere happens to be the forest or a forest.
