Twenty One Pilots: House of Gold Meaning
Song Released: 2013
House of Gold Lyrics
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to stone
Will you take care of me?
She asked me, son, when I grow old
Will you buy me a house of gold?
And when your father turns to...

I think he is scared of being shamed for not taking care of his mum,but is torn and wants to follow his dreams. It hurts him to see his mom alone and wants to give her everything so that he can be free of the over whelming responsobility. In the end its to much and night is death. happy huh. ..........

I think this song is about Tyler wanting to take care his mother when his father dies but but he also wants to follow his dreams in his music career and it's tearing him apart of which one to choose
-
He wants to take care of his mum, boom
-
His mum , by selfishly asking so much, is ripping him apart
Song of confusion n turmoil by simply being asked to give more than one can.
Whilst mum gets on with daily chores, her boy is stressed beyond capacity
But, home is where the heart is -
Tyler wants to take care of his mom and wants to have music career so he cuts himself in half so the body can play music in o his mother and the legs can have a music career at the end at sundown he dies. sundown says it's too late and Tyler dying says his dreams are dead
-
Tyler wants to be able to take care of his mother, but also wants to follow his dreams and his torn apart by having to choose, represented by him cut in half in the video
-
Most people say that this song is about his mother, (which I'm not denying)but I got different themes from it when I listened to it. That being the themes of change and dreams.
Like Tyler says in the song, ("When I grow old," "When your father turns to stone," "Life turns plans upon their heads.") things will eventually change and instead of fighting it, we should know that not everything is set in stone and that we should be grateful for what we have now.
As for the theme of dreams, Tyler knows that the big dreams we have for the future are most likely not going to happen and we need to accept that and move on.
