Twenty One Pilots: Isle of Flightless Birds Meaning
Isle of Flightless Birds Lyrics
That gives the demons and angels purpose
They fly around while we are walking
And mold our emotions just to please them
I am cold, can you hear?
I will fly with no hope, no fear
And the ground taunts my...

#1 top rated interpretation:Maybe the song means that we all have this amazing potential (beautiful wings) to be unique and free and fly to our fullest extent, yet the pressure of society and our own insecurities and fear to be different hold us back from achieving this potential and keep us restrained to the ground. Until we let go of those fears and rules of society, we can't truly be free. And as more time goes by enslaved to society, the heavier the weight keeping us on the ground becomes.
"If you decide to live by
what you think's wrong what's right [what is socially 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable']
believe me you'll begin to wish you were sleeping
your weeping will creep in your head and you'll cry
But if we wake up every morning
and decide what we believe [what we really want to be and do]
we can pick apart our very heart
and the light will set us free"
"Please don't be afraid of what your soul is really thinking
Your soul knows good and evil
Your soul knows both sides
And it's time you pick your battle
And I promise you this is mine"
These lines to me mean that there's a large different between what society wants us to do, which is sometimes what we've trained ourselves to try and believe is what we want to do, and what we truly want to do. Tyler wants us to find where our heart truly lies, as he has found his, and to not be afraid to go for it and make it happen, despite what society may say. -

#2 top rated interpretation:I think it’s talking about our spiritual state,we are flightless birds meaning we can’t really succeed on our own, but with Gods help we can have beautiful wings. At the beginning it’s talking about the purpose of demands and angles the purpose of demands is to draw you farther away from God, and make you think negative things about yourself that aren’t really true, The purpose of angles is to draw us closer to God,And keep us far away from those false facts.

#3 top rated interpretation:There is a battle for your spirit. The song begins with the climax! Our God given spirit is distracted, tainted, and ignored by many of us because of unseen demonic forces. Those forces use guilt, shame, fear, anxiety, any derivatives of fear to move you away from your spirit that you were likely closest to as a child. (The eyes of a child are so pure.) Car Radio and Holding On To You further prove of the battle for our spirit or soul via your mind. Your emotions connect you to the spirit world. Light or dark? What do you feel? Comfortibility? "Sometimes silence is violent."

I think its about that society pressure that we all feel. It keeps us away, and we are flying with being different. And society is our ground. It keeps us down
-
I think it is telling us that God has given us wings but instead of using them, we are wasting our lives on useless things
-
I think the song means we are trapped under pressure of society and what is allowed and not allowed. And he’s trying to tell us to do what we do and believe what we believe.
Stay alive my beans I love you ALLL ( I’m shure Tyler and josh do to) -
I believe the song is trying to explain how we need to truly be free from closed minded society and it's rules. The flightless bird is a metaphor that compares being held down or held back from being free to be who we are to a bird that is being held back from flight.

"All we are is an ISLE OF FLIGHTLESS BIRDS" yes, that's all we are because our doubt, insecurities, and fear hold us back from being free. And it's so difficult to make yourself be happy so we become a shadow (flightless)idk my response was dank anyways, sorry for wasting your time.... stay alive beans |-/
