Not Today Lyrics

I don't know why, I just feel I'm better off,
Staying in the same room I was born in,
I look outside, and see a whole world better off,
Without me in it trying to transform it,

You are out of my mind, you aren't seeing my side,
You waste...

I feel like this song is about his relationship with God. That he feels he’s not worthy and doesn’t have a reason to be on this earth, but God’s telling him otherwise, and is always there to remind him.

The song possibly is about a person who tries to shut themselves away from everyone and everything and tries to 'stay in the room they were born in' but another person is trying to get them to make contact with the outside world and everyone else in it. The person who tries to keep themselves away from everyone possibly has depression and thinks that they are not worthy of having friends or trying to make a difference to the world. But the other person tries to force them out of their room and prove that they are worthwhile and needed.

'Heard your voice, "There's no choice"
Tore the curtains down, windows open now, make a noise/sound'

This represents the person trying to cure the other persons depression is pulling down the curtains and opening the windows and trying to get the person to make a change in the world.

'You are out of my mind, oh, you aren't seeing my side, oh, you waste all this time trying to get to me, but you are out of my mind'

These lyrics might mean that the depressed person thinks that the other person doesn't truly understand their point of view. The person tries to get the depressed person to tell them all about their problems but they 'are out of their mind'.
