Window in the Skies Lyrics

The shackles are undone
The bullet’s quit the gun
The heat that’s in the sun
Will keep us when there's none
The rule has been disproved
The stone it has been moved
The grave is now a groove
All debts are removed

Oh can’t you see what...

This song is about the life changing experience that happens when a person becomes a Christian. The Bible says that God Is Love. So when Bono sings, "Oh can't you see what Love has done, what it's doin' to me?" He's really saying, "God has changed me, just take a look!"

The title "Window in the Skies" represents our passageway to Heaven. "Love has left a window in the sky..." is about Christ's death and resurrection and how this has made it possible for each one of us to follow Him into Heaven. He also says, "all debts are removed" which is what happened when Christ took the sins of the world upon himself.

I think it's about a guy's love for a girl, and her love for him, changing him for the better. Simple as that, no deeper religious meanings here.
