Yellowcard: Empty Apartment Meaning
Empty Apartment Lyrics
You stayed inside
One you love
Is where you hide
Shot me down
As I flew by
Crash and burn
I think sometimes
You forget where the heart is
Answer no to these questions
Let her go, learn a lesson
It's not me, you're not...

1TOP RATED
#1 top rated interpretation:This song to meant a lot to me at a time when I fell out with a real close friend of mine, it's about realising your mistakes, and hoping that some day everything wil be forgiven. It's about wanting te other person to feel as bad as you feel miss you as much as you miss them, and realise that you just want everything back to how it was before, that strong friendship can overcome anything.

In an interview, ryan key said it was about a really close friend that left the band. Obviously pete mosley

The song is about a guy and a girl. and they have relations but they aren't solidified and aren't official. but the feelings are obvious. He says you called me out, but you stayed inside. he's saying that you asked me to open up to you, but you yourself kept the doors shut.
Call me out
You stayed inside
One you love
Is where you hide
Shot me down
As I flew by
Crash and burn
I think sometimes
You forget where the heart is
hes saying that his feelings for her had him flying, he was so happy. and whatever she did shot him down, to the point of "crash and burn", ha he goes to say that she forgot he had a heart, and its the center of you it runs your body, and his is broken.
Answer no to these questions
Let her go, learn a lesson
It's not me, you're not listening
Now, can't you see something's missing
You forget where the heart is.
he says that she'll never admit to it. He's just gotta let it all go, forget her and let it be a lesson learned. He assures himself it had nothing to do with him, and that she won't even listen to what he has to say. and once again, "you forget where the heart is" almost hinting that she must not have one.
he wants her to take him to that empty place she is at. empty without him. So he too can forget where the heart is, forget the hurt. and he calls her out and say, if you ever loved me you'd atleast say, "its okay".
Waking up from this nightmare
How's your life?
What's it like there?
Is it all what you want it to be?
Does it hurt when you think about me?
And how broken my heart is
so she left him. He refers to the place where she is now(maybe with someone else) as "there". He asks if its as great as she thought it would be and if she even hurts when she thinks about him and how much she hurt him.
the chorus again.
It's okay to be angry and never let go
It only gets harder the more that you know
When you get lonely if no one's around
You know that I'll catch you when you're falling down
We came together but you left alone
And I know how it feels to walk out on your own
Maybe someday I will see you again
And you'll look me in my eyes and call me your friend
and here even after it all, he still loves her.he says its okay to be angry and never let go, because that's what he's feeling. So he tells her, yeah its okay I know what its like. I'm pretty sure at this point in the song its saying that whoever she left him for has hurt her in return. and he says that if you ever need someone to talk to, I'll always be here to hold you up. "we came together but you left alone" means that to this point in their lives they enterd it together but she left him, and so he knows what its like to be all alone when you need someone most. and then he finishes by adding that he hopes they will meet gain in life, and that she will atleast see him as a friend. -
I think this song is about this guy and his girlfriend who moved into an apartment together. They were so caught up in having a serious relationship that they (or maybe just her, the lyrics didn't mention him) stopped actually caring for each other. They had a fight about that. Now, the guy wants her back. That or he just plain wants her friendship, neither of which he has now.
