"Just when life gets messed up , just when you cant turn back"....(when you think your life is messed up and you cant turn back in time to make the changes before the mess was created)
"Sometimes life gets like that, its my addiction"... (The lyricist tries to calm the listener that its okay if your life is messed up its happens and at the same time he says its my addiction which means he likes the things messed up in his life all the dark stuff he likes it. When you remain that state for long time you begin to like all the stuff happening to you. You start to like the darkness prevailing in your life and mind)

So this song was actually written for the show ‘13 reasons why’ it is played during credits at one of the episodes.

This itself just this tells us a lot about this song.

But I believe that this song refears to mental illnesses such as depression. At the start he says “sometimes life gets messed up, just when u can’t turn back” this suggest the the narrator thinks he’s life got messed up and there is no way to turn back and go back in time

Then she says “step on paper thin glass” this is a metaphor of how delicate life is and he’s taking a big risk by ‘stepping on it’ as he’s on the verge or breaking down.

“All you gotta do is die a little to survive” this is just a metaphor it’s literally the equivalent of ‘ what dosint kill you makes you stronger’. The next ltsrlf makes a lot of sense “all you gotta do is cry a little to be fine” this litrally mean that it’s okey to cry sometimes as after we will definitely feel a little better or ‘fine’

I hope that was easy enough to understand hahaha
