3 Doors Down: Kryptonite Meaning
Song Released: 2000
Kryptonite Lyrics
To ease my troubled mind
I left my body lying somewhere
In the sands of time
But I watched the world float
To the dark side of the moon
I feel there is nothing I can do, yeah
I watched the world float
To...

This song was actual listed a long time ago on a TV show on VH1 and he explained this was a FRIENDSHIP song not really about a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship. However, I am sure it may be used in any context you prefer.

Yeah I can see now that it's about Superman talking to or about Lois Lane. It's been so long since I've seen the video.
In the movie Superman Returns:
You can definitely tell that Lois and Clark/Superman have a lot of issues: When he comes back to Earth he finds out that she has moved on with her life and is in a relationship and has a son (who may be his....we know later on in the movie). While Clark is still very much in love with her and misses having that friendship with her. And they start becoming friends again when comes back, but she still takes him for granted when he becomes Superman, interviews him by asking why he left and that she gave up on him---Superman after he left.
now the song Kryptonite
The person, in the song, is in love with this girl, who maybe his friend, and he uses the line "Kryptonite" as a way of telling her that she is his weakness and that he would love to remain friends and that if he needs help she would be by his side, even though she's taken him for granted. (don't know if that's right but its just an interpretation) -
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

This song is about the way people lose total respect over the adults, when they grow old(from there the movie with the old guy), even tho they will always be there by us. If you read the lyrics in this context, it will fit perfectly
-
This song is about a guy basically asking his girl if she'll stand by him, no matter what happens and no matter if everyone else thinks he's crazy.
The singer is basically saying that he's stood by this girl and protected her secrets and been there when she needed him most, and he's asking her to return the favor if she needs it.
The music video apparently had something to do with this old guy who used to be Superman running around chasing after this old guy who used to be a villian... (don't quote me on this, I just heard that). -
Okay, not sure who exactly he is singing it to, but from what I can see, he's saying "hey, you look up to me now and expect me to be there for you, but what'll happen when I'm not there for you? Will you still be there with me?" the part about keeping you "by my side with my superhuman might" implies it may have something to do with a girl, but again, that's just me... Hope this helps.
