3 Doors Down: Let Me Be Myself Meaning
Song Released: 2008
Let Me Be Myself Lyrics
Bein' someone else
I tried to kill the pain
Nothin ever helped
I left myself behind
Somewhere along the way
Hopin to come back around
To find myself someday
Lately i'm so tired of waiting for you
To say that...

I had heard this song and while I thought it was good, it didn’t hit me emotionally. I am an alcoholic. After an early counseling session, after confronting my insecurity issues and family, and realizing somewhat why I was drinking, this song came on. Almost skipped past it, but decided to listen. I was in tears from the beginning, as the lyrics seemed to tell the story of my insecurities. I realized the “you” in the song was the world, alcohol, and more importantly me! I still get emotional when hearing it. It really helped me at a time of confusion and self discovery. Great song. Thank you.
