Let Me Be Myself Lyrics

I guess i just got lost
Bein' someone else
I tried to kill the pain
Nothin ever helped
I left myself behind
Somewhere along the way
Hopin to come back around
To find myself someday

Lately i'm so tired of waiting for you
To say that...

I had heard this song and while I thought it was good, it didn’t hit me emotionally. I am an alcoholic. After an early counseling session, after confronting my insecurity issues and family, and realizing somewhat why I was drinking, this song came on. Almost skipped past it, but decided to listen. I was in tears from the beginning, as the lyrics seemed to tell the story of my insecurities. I realized the “you” in the song was the world, alcohol, and more importantly me! I still get emotional when hearing it. It really helped me at a time of confusion and self discovery. Great song. Thank you.

The writer is talking about fame and recognition, he gave himself up and turned his life over to it and it took control of his being. He was made to become something he wasn't to promote his music. Then he said he tried evrything, probly drugs alcohal and other forms of escape, just to have some freedom from it but nothing seemed to work. Now he is begging fame and the world for just a little peace so he can be himself and have a few moments to enjoy life as it was before he was famous..
